    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 at 8:34am
I have an Aventum X with the Hydrolux Pro cooling package which is flexible tubing setup. Recently I discovered I had a leak and the reservoir was empty. I contacted support and Ken from DS was wonderful with his assistance getting the matter resolved, a connector fitting was bad and he walked me through replacing it and draining and refilling the system. All good.

Now I have been watching the fluid level in the reservoir like a hawk, this is the first liquid cooled system I've ever had. Over the past week the fluid level in the reservoir has dropped by 3/8" (yes, I'm that anal, I've been measuring it).

I see no leaks anywhere that I can see and easily have access to so my question is, is this normal? How much should the reservoir level drop in normal use? I expected it was a sealed system and wouldn't lose fluid that quickly.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Mike

Hi,

Having just drained the system, it is probable that there were small pockets of air in the radiators, lines, etc that with the coolant flow go into the reservoir thereby lowering the coolant level. Once that is done, you will find that it will loose some coolant to evaporation. It is not sealed like an AIO. With time you can determine the rate of loss. I loose some and I have the cpu and gpus in the loop. If you have the cpu only in the loop, I would imagine the loss would be less.
Good luck and enjoy.

Ah ok thank you. I do have both the CPU and GPU loops. For some reason I thought it was a closed system and didn't expect evaporation. Thanks for the information, makes sense now.

What kind of coolant did you/Digital Storm use?

You have to ask DS for the particular coolant used in your system. It will vary with time.
