question on RAM speed

   I have a qx6850 with the multiplier at 10x to make it 3.33ghz.  So the FSB is the same as stock.
I also have 4gb (2x2gb) of 1066mhz RAM.  People say you should make it 1:1 for maximum performance.  I don't understand fully how these things work out - so am I at a disadvantage running my memory at 1066?
