My wife asks me if DS offered insurance for the shipping.
I actually blanked out and realized that the shipping never mentions anything about insurance, even with $200 it's still a wooden crate only. THen she asked me about what if the computer was stolen, who covers that? (Fedex/ups are famous for leaving packages @ the door and run) could anyone comment on that? thanks |

I would think Fed Ex would require a signature for a computer.

Insurance is automatically added into all shipments. The computers are sent signature required, if they left it, without a signature, and it was stolen, then a report would be requested, and then eventually FedEx will have to pay for it or find out who stole it, etc... |

Yeah. FedEx or UPS will come to your house on the day that it arrives, and if no one is home, they will leave a note dictating that they were there. You will need someone to be there one of those days, or you will need to direct them to leave it somewhere (I generally tell them to leave large packages behind my house.).

I imagine that even if you told them to put it behind the house they would require someone to sign it, i mean just think if someone was strolling by and saw it in the backyard etc

With respect to FedEx, when the driver scans a package that requires a signature, the power pad won't allow it to be left at the door.). If the driver bypasses the procedures, he/she will most likely be fired for falsification when the shipper (Digital Storm) advises them.
If you know you're not going to be home....or you get home and find a delivery door tag and don't want to take the next day off, just call FedEx and have them hold it at the nearest FedEx Service Center and pick it up yourself after work or when ever you can. They will hold it for 5 days If you know you're not going to be home, have Digital Storm send it to your work....the businesses mostly get delivered before the residences. The drivers really do try to do the right things....you only hear about the a-holes and all businesses have a few of them :) (retired FedEx driver playing games on his Digital Storm laptop every day)
