How do I do it?
a) Install drive b) Format drive c) ?? I'm thinking I simply clone the boot drive onto to the 240 but... doesn't cloning require a drive to be the same size? If not, is there a 120gb partition on the 240 after cloning and how would I expand that after cloning? ==== Another question: When you configure a DS system, it makes reference to Hard Drive Set #1 #2 #3. Do these "sets" correspond to a specific pair of cables relative to the mobo? |

Good questions.
I'm sure there are ways to copy your stuff over -- but I always prefer (and this is my preference) to just install the OS and setup the computer on that new drive. I'm really... detailed when it comes to my computers data structure and I don't like loose ends. So -- I do everything the hard way, the detailed way. About the cables. Yes and No. A hard drive is generally plugged into a slot for example ATA1 or SATA1 on the motherboard. The motherboard will look for those drives in order, but you can set to boot from just about anything nowadays. For example, I have a computer that has no computer. It boots totally remotely. Just a dummy terminal. I hope this answers your questions. Regards, Xii |
