I am a long time lurker in these forums and really like what I see with the community and the active interaction and feedback from DSO.

I currently close to pulling the trigger on purchasing a new system (in the next week or two) and am leaning toward purchasing from DSO.  In fact, I posted a potential configuration in the configuration forum.  However, I have to be honest and say that I am also considering a couple other vendors for different reasons, so I figured I would post my perceived pros/cons of each and get some feedback and advice from this community.

The three vendors I am considering are DSO (obviously), Vigor Gaming, and Cyberpower.  As I said I am leaning toward DSO, but each has its pros and cons in my perspective.

Digital Storm = Good ratings/reviews overall, Great customization/personalization options, Great community feedback and support, Slightly higher overall prices for similar components

Vigor Gaming = Great ratings/reviews, Decent customization/personalizations options, Limited community feedback and support, Lower overall prices for similar components

Cyberpower = Average ratings/reviews, Good customization/personalization options, Limited community feedback and support, Lowest overall prices for similar components

I was just looking to get some feedback and insight on the above to help me make my final decision.  Keep in mind, I am already leaning toward DSO, but would like to see what some others honestly think.

Thanks in advance for the feedback and advice.

Hai there,
I was in your boat also man. I looked at CyberPower, but the customer reviews and horror stories from that site really scared the poop out of me. I was looking at Velocity, Falcon NW, and a ton of others also. This site offers computers that are affordable and that rank right up there with the "high end" boutiques out there.

The bottom line is that you get more computer, service, and well being here, in my opinion, for a lot less than places like the ones I listed above. I looked at some sites that were well above what I was quoted here for my system, like $1500 - $2500 above the price. Cyberpower or Ibuypower seems like the type of boutique that would use OEM parts to get the prices that they offer, and from what I have read, getting a functioning PC is a crap shoot when you open the box. Furthermore, if said PC was messed up, the tech department was even harder to reach. I myself called to chat with one of their sales people and it seemed as though I was bothering him in his day, lol. At least that's how I was treated anyway.

Customer service here is outstanding. Here, they treat you like a member of the Royal family and go out of their way to help you. I have not recieved my computer yet, but I have to say that this has been the most pleasent buying experience to date. I would imagine that the only reason my computer hasn't gone into production yet is because I keep upgrading it, but I can't wait to get it here. Big%20smile

I am not real familiar with Vigor, but if you buy here, I think you will be more than happy.

Vigor is an interesting and glitzy site but I did not see lifetime support.

That is a HUGE issue with me!!!!  Maybe I missed it at the Vigor site?

what ever you do don't go to cyberpower.  Here is a true story from my friend who bought one about less than a year ago.  He got a great rig for a very cheap price.  The shipping was delayed, but it only came a few days late.  when he opened the box the chassis had two dents and a scrape mark.  He called customer service but never reached them and was on hold for over an hour.  Next he boot the computer.  It ran great and had a great fps for the first 4 months, until it began to over heat regardless of the cpu and gpu liquid cooling.  He was trying to contact the customer service for months and got a reply from somebody who kept asking him questions about whether or not it was plugged in, was the monitor turned on etc.  Now he can still play games, but now the walls are taken off of the chassis and is open.  This is the only way to keep it cool.  I definitely don't recommend cyberpower to anyone.

Here is my 2cents on Cyberpower...

I purchased a desktop pc from them and had nothing but problems.  From the time I opened the box till the day I returned it.  They have zero customer support...what little they do have you can't understand a dam word and he rushes you off the phone.  Yes, I said he...because they only had 2 total ppl in customer support (the one guy just answered the phone for the tech).  They may have more now.  Either way my exp. with Cyberpower was not a good one.....wrong gfx card installed...wrong bios flashed....hard drives not config'd for raid....I'd go on, but I'm getting mad just typing about it!!  lol  Good thing my new DSO machine has arrived Wink...bad thing is I'm halfway around the world from home ...Cry

I don't know about customer service but the price difference between Vigor/DSO is far more than you realize.

vs

As for ibuypower I've only ever heard it's hit or miss with them, which seems obvious because of how cheap the computers they sell are.

I looked at the places you have listed, and at least a half dozen others. I compared price, both from the builders, and for the components on the bill of materials for my configuration as purchased separately through Newegg. I looked at ratings from consumers, as well as reviews in the printed and online press. I finally looked at how each company was prepared to stand behind their product.

My configuration was based upon (literally) hundreds of hours of online research into what would fit my particular needs best. The advice of people on this forum, notably SkyR, Bill the Cat, and Alex were instrumental in helping me to understand where I needed to begin that process.

Once I settled on a build, the decision to buy that configuration from Digital Storm took considerably less time. If you find another business that earns your trust, by all means, look into that. I can't say that there is not a better value out there, only that I was unable to find it. What I can say with some degree of confidence, having looked into both of the other integrators you have listed, is that neither of them is that better alternative.

In the end, at least in my opinion,  you should be looking to buy a computer, not a price tag. Anyone can offer you a price tag. The list of suitable candidates that can offer you the build quality of Digital Storm, while still remaining in the same price ballpark as the discount mass merchants, is extremely short.

Protip : Cyberpowerpc and Ibuypower are the same people.

They sell bootlegged bullsh*t demo-hardware (you know the trial-edition cut down trash they peddle in korea? thats whats in your cyberpower system).

Call up their customer service, you're either going to get some mush-mouthed retard, or you'll get stuck on hold then hung up on. You may wonder "well shoot, on their website there are ZERO negative reviews, how can this be possible?" I'll explain that.

They have a filter set up so that when you submit a review below 4 stars, it just doesn't show up. Period. All of the 'testimonials' are written by their employees.

You may have also wondered how they could have gotten positive reviews for certain systems by CNet, PCGamer, etc. This is because they cherry-pick their products going out for review (they aren't going to ship fake, broken hardware out to the magazine that sells them ad-space).

Bottom Line

Stay away from Cyberpowerpc/Ibuypower at all costs.

I am in the same boat as you except I am looking at Maingear. The only reason I even looked else where is because of all the delays that seem to be happening.

I do believe in the end DS makes a better product. DS has a better helping community. I however see posts where people are dropping 3k-5k on PC's a month ago and in my opinion given horrible communication from the company. That alone makes me wonder is it the move that has slowed them down or are they in over their heads now.

I have chosen to wait untill the new CPU's come to out order. I want to see what the community feels about those. It will also give me time to evaluate if it was the move that has given them there recent troubles or if they have bitten off more then they can chew.

Good luck to you in your search.

how many people posted saying that they're computer took over a month vs how many people you think got their computer quickly.

I can only think of like 4-5 that are posting complaining of a slow computer.

Pretty sure DS makes more than 4-5 computers a  month.

Alot of people who have purchased DSO rigs have don't post until a problem or two arise.

At frist glance I would bet it seems that if you post on the forums it increases your odds that you'll have issues with it as well.

I ordered on Nov. 28th, got it on Dec 24th, and that was through DSO's growing pains and the 8800GT shortage.

I looked at every Computer Co. for over 2 years, and I finally decided on DS.  When I frinally placed my order that resulted in the system I currently have, the total time from Stage 1 until my systen was delivered to my door was 12 working days.  That did NOT include weekends, nor Holidays.

Overall the process from finalizing my build, checking with my bank, making a few changes, holidays and weekends and delivey took about 1 month.  Not bad for a system that ROCKS and I just love.  I don't care how long (within reason) it takes to build a first class system, the wait is worth it.  For me anyway.

These systems are tech savy and ensuring the product is perfect does take time.  Having said that, errors can and do happen.  DS will stand behing their product with service and tech help.  No way any other Co. will do what they will.

Even though it's taking for ever to get my computer from DS, at least you know you are going to get a good computer... I had a dell $4800 (full of junk, crashes",  alienware $5000 "Over heating problem", and voodoopc experience before it was horrible... My friend had Falcon-nw he was going to sue the company, he paid $6000 for his pc and they couldn't fix a prob "getting 20fps in a game". I canceled my order from Cyberpower, some asian guy was yelling at me on the phone, he almost insulted me! I have placed an order here, so far least every person I spoke with on the phone, they were so  respectful, and professional... today my pc went in testing, once I get I'll post pictures,  reviews.

I think it was Confucius who said, "Man who go to bed with itchy butt wake-up with smelly finger".  I also think it was the discerning Confucius who said "Man who eat jellybeans fart in Technicolor".

I have a pondering question.  If Polish people are called "Poles", wouldn't people from Holland be called "Holes".

Just a thought.
