Hi,

I am interested in purchasing a pc from Digital Storm, but have a few questions before I am ready to make my final decision.  To say the least, I am impressed with Digital Storm's reputation and the craftsmanship that produces such beautiful pc's.  I am not trying to troll by asking for clarity; just a hopeful buyer looking for some help.  My apologies if this was posted as an answer buy an employee elsewhere on the site.

To make it simple as possible I will list my questions in order:

1.)  I have noticed that customers have gotten computers with hardware issues directly out of the box (i.e. a faulty stick of ram). Shouldn’t this have been caught during the "72 hour stress test"?  Wasn't it signed off on as functional by a technician?

2.) How does over-clocking cpu's that Digital Storm performs effect the factory warranty?  Or does this void the manufacturer’s warranty.

3.) If I have a piece of hardware die on the 11th month, of my first year of ownership; how is this handled?  How about after the first year?

4.) What does the 3 year warranty cover if I have a problem 2 and 1/2 years from now?

5.) Does Digital Storm offer a military discount?

I have no issues paying a premium for professional services, but the customer's story about a stick of bad RAM not being caught during the "stress test" has me worried.  I would like to purchase from Digital Storm; I just need reassurance that I will be getting a pc that works out of the box day 1.

Thanks in advance.

@icculus514,

Thank you for your interest in Digital Storm. I'll be more than happy to help!

1. No matter how much we stress-test/benchmark a system, there are always going to be a few customers that get their system and have some issue with it. A majority of the issues occur from shipping shocks and vibrations. Others can just occur because it was just plain luck, hardware may have been running fine here, and after some time, it just decided to give out. This is why every computer company provides customer support/warranty for their systems. If anyone was able to guarantee zero issues, then they would never have a warranty or customer support. On a good note, we do test the hardware as much as possible, we can even send you testing results if you wish after your PC ships. If you do run into issues, we're here to help you take care of them, and that's what truly matters when you make such a large investment. I'm sure other customers on our forums can tell you more abou this.

2. Overclocking the CPU does not void Digital Storm's warranty. Intel may say it does, but, we will still warranty your CPU as long as it's within the time-frame of our warranty for defective part replacements. If you try to overclock your CPU on your own with high voltages for example, and the CPU goes bad, then the customer is responsible for a new replacement CPU.

3. If hardware dies on the 11th month, we count the time from the day you call us and create a support ticket, so even after the 13th month, we will still help you get it replaced with our internal inventory. After the first year, please see answer below.

4. The 3 year limited warranty covers labor for 3 years and direct inventory replacements for 1 year, after that, we can help you get the defective hardware replaced with the manufacture (as long as it's in warranty) which is usually 3-5 years, even life-time on items such as memory sticks. If you would like longer direct inventory replacement warranty, you can always pay to upgrade it or take advantage of our current promotion.

5. Yes, you will have to ask our sales team directly as it depends on what system, etc...

I hope this helps! We are rated A+ with the BBB, and our community forums can give you an idea of how we are.

In the end, you're going to get an awesome system for your money. We strive to offer the best hardware and service without charging too high of a premium.

Nobody can gaurantee a trouble free system.    Problems happen and you just hope it isn't you.   The difference here at DS is the patient, courteous and technical know-how of their support people.   I understand your concern when reading of bad ram sticks, etc but in most cases where a customer came to the forums totally irate they have gotten back to us impressed and so happy they had picked DS for the support they received.

Nobody wants issues and it makes you want to chuck the pc out the window but Digital Storm does do all it can and does have your back.      I spent many decades in field service and am sensitive to support and reliability and have found both here.

This DS forum is also a step above for the many questions that come up.    Lots of talented people here to help when they can.

I was one of the lucky ones (or unlucky ones) that had a problem right out of the box. My system is all liquid cooled and one of my video cards was bad. After contacting DS I shipped it back to them, on their dime, and they fixed it and sent it right back.

I judged them not on the failure but on how they responded to the failure and they passed with flying colors A++++++.

Just my two cents worth.

Thanks for the feedback. I've heard horror stories about how other companies leave customers high and dry. It's almost too hard to believe that a company like D.S. is still around. I can't wait to place my order...guess I'll head over and see what the other members of the forum think about the rig I have customized.

Also...I'd like to thank Alex for the quick response last night...I was beyond impressed.
