why 12GB of ram? are you running virtual servers or doing any 3D graphic design?
To be honest unless you are doing one the above, your money would be better spent on 6GB 2000MHz ram then on 12GB. why 2 raptors? instead get an SSD, it will be faster. are you really gonna get that 32GB external for that price? that is huge waste IMO be sure to ask for the ram's fan just the fan no tweak
unless you know how to change the heatsink on GPU I would not recommend to you to get LC on GPU, cause if anything goes wrong, instead of them just sending you a new card, you have to send them the whole PC, the whole process has 2 weeks in shipping alone, in total you could be without your PC for a minimum of 2 week and max of a month or more depending on the problem. also if you want to upgrade to the new Nvidia cards say in 6 month, you can't do it, you have to send the PC in again. other then that you good, I don't agree with your accessories but they are not for me to agree with

yes you can do it yourself or specifically ask DS to do it for you, this is the fan you want to specifically tell them to use: HAF blue led 230mm fan |

i figured 12 GB ram would be best?
because i do game, and since i am an photographer i have multiple things up at ounce, photo shop and coral right now my computer freezes if i even try to run both, so if you say 6 GB would be better then ill take you advice. im taking off the 32 GB external i didn't mean to put that in there. as for the hard drives, you would recommend 2? intel or ocz for SSD? and last but not least the Nvidia cards should i just go with one 295? and that way say in 6 months i can just take it out and put new ones in? |

well I think I need a bit more info before we can figure out if you will use the ram, tell me this, are you talking about photoshop cs3 and paint shop pro X? also what is the current specs of your PC that can't run them both?
so lets hold off on the ram for a minute till we figure out what best for you. glad you moved that 32GB external, the prices for them are nuts IMO
for SSDs the difference is that Intel is SLC and OCZ is MLC, SLC have longer life but I believe the MLC can easily last 10 years if not 10 times that, however the OCZ is faster, looks like you got some cash, and if you do photo editing and stuff you probably can use all the HDD speed you can get, tell me how much room do you think you apps and games will take? only those 2 I will figure the OS in myself I need this info so I can give you a great idea if it works for you
if you plan on getting new ones then just go with one but I see you picked a 30" monitor for that you will need triple sli or quad sli for best results in games. so if you can do without the game performance for 6 month then get one 295, otherwise go with 2. but I have to tell you, other then DX11 you have no reason to upgrade cards, people who got sli 280 or 260 last year are just fine right now and don't need to upgrade, with 2 x 295 this time next year you would have no reason to upgrade unless you just like to have the newest thing. but yes for upgrade when you are ready to do so, (this is without LC on GPU), you just take the old one out, put in the new one, connect the power cables, reboot PC, install drivers, reboot and you are good to go, the whole thing takes under 5 minutes. my current specs are just an old dell AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ at 2.00GZ and 2GB ram and a 160GB hard drive which i have 5GB left and apple imac 2.66GHz inter core 2 duo 320GB @ 5400 and 4GB 1066 MHz ram and i have 40GB left on the hard drive so can you tell by those things? thanks for your help by the way! |

NP OK let me tell you a few things, I have many PCs, one of them is an old xps gen4, that system has 4GB of ram and a single core p4 3.8 and I can run both cs3 and x2 and that is a 32bit system, with the 64bit seeing all total ram I think with 6GB of ram you will cut thru those apps like butter. I think your old PC does not have enough ram to run both and that is why it freezes.
But few points: 1. if you are looking to cut cost where you are getting very Little performance gain, then you won't notice the difference between 2000MHz, 1866MHz and 1600MHz so feel free to go with the 1600MHz you would never notice the difference but if you have the money and don't care keep the 2000MHZ 2. make sure they give you 2 x 3GB sticks, this way you can add 6GB and be at total of 12GB if its needed down the road. 3. if you do choose the 2000MHz ram go with the corsair, I love Mushkin here but their 2000MHz ram's timings are not as good as corsair's. Also make sure corsair ram they are using is the one that has LC7 timing you can find it here TR3X6G2000C7GTF, I'm pretty sure that is the one they are using but it never hurts to be sure. OK as for SSD here is the deal, you can ask DS to raid 2 x 120GB OCZ apex for you, and that will give you mad HDD speed and keep in mind that SSDs have no seektime while veloci has a 7ms seektime, and raid does not improve seektime so the SSD is faster in that sense. Also get a second HDD as HDD2, a 500GB for file storage and store all your files on that drive, keep only the apps/OS and games on the SSD. |

No I'm just a customer, I'm waiting for some parts to come out, however if I were to order today, I would go with the 965, 2000MHz ram, my HDD1 does not need that much space so I would raid 2 or 3 30GB vertex.
its been a pleasure talking to you, I will talk to you tmrw but I won't be on in the morning more like afternoon you have all weekend, they won't start work on it till Monday, they are off on the weekend.
