so a friend of mine purchased the monitor that DS sells (the Acer 24 inch (Widescreen) (Black) (High-Performance Gaming Display)

i noticed that it is only a 60hz LCD (not even sure if its LED). My question is, would this be a problem? it's not even 120hz...googling it seems to put the "standard" @ 120hz.

He's looking to play dota 2, Arkhamknight, etc.

I know when my starcraft 2 FPS dropped from ~100 to ~60, i can REALLY tell the diff. It's still playable, but i can feel the "delay" if you will.

thx

From what little I know, it really depends on your resolution and the type of panel you are shooting for and what is important to you.  The TN or VA panels will normally have a higher refresh rates but the picture quality generally suffers.  The IPS and the new IGZO panels will have a slower refresh rate (60hz generally) but a far better picture.  That said, I don't think there is a 120hz 4K monitor is there?  I think the best I've seen for 4K is about 60hz.  Also, most LCD monitors will only have about 60hz refresh rate.

Here are a couple of decent links on monitors (and reviews):

I'm not sure if this helps but figured I'd chime in.

Hi darbedo.... Nothing wrong with a 60hz monitor.   I and most actually use it. The 120hz has become more popular in recent years.
