Budget:
[3500] Expectations: [FedEX destroyed my Stage 6 HAF 32 PC and i have been given a check for 3500.00 :-) i have also been working with Mike at DS to get my new pc started but i am really having an issue with the case....which ironically, is the least important of the components. I had a stage 6 i7920 and it runs great before fed ex killed it but it was like a hurricane going off. The haf 932 is also rather large. I don't care if i have to spend the money on liquid cooling or not but i want to put it below my desk and basically just here a steady hum or less. No whirling fans past typical gaming use....any noise suppression if worth the money is also considerable] Usage: [Gaming / Work PC] Special Needs: [Performance - Sound - Price...in that order] Saved Ticket #: [Please Type Here] Specifications: [I have a PSU if its still functional, SSD which is fine, 2-4 other HD's that are ok, and ram is fine. I would like to get a 2600k, 580, and a good mobo for a very nice OC. Obviously with the parts i am providing i should be able to stay UNDER 2k let alone 3500. From what Mike has told me i am stuck between the Enix, Assassin, and 650D chasis. Remember the HAF was way too big and i do move once every 2 yrs so a little mobility would be nice.] Thanks all Greg |

For air cooled system you want room and airflow, so the fact that you want a small case is fine but remember you won't have the same temps as if you had the haf.
90% of your noise comes from gpu's fan when under load, the only way to deal with that is to put them under lc. What res you are you gonna be gaming at? |

Lets slow down, we have to discuss some things.
what kind of game settings/performance are you expecting from your pc at that res? and what kinds of game are you planing on playing? |

if ur looking for quiet the assassin on low fan setting is almost inaudible. The difference from low/high fan speed is only a few C's, goes to show you the positive air pressure.

Haf is very quiet also. but most of the noise is from gpus, assassin has those 180mm fans which are louder then the 200mm fans of haf.
between the cases he mentioned they are all quiet anyways, but that can be another option if he likes it, personally I rather spend money on something else but to each his own. Edited by DST4ME - 24 Aug 2011 at 3:17am |

emnn if I'm not mistaken the 3 180mm fans of fto2 have a 27dba vs 4 x 200mm 19dba of haf x.
at 18dba 700rpm, their airflow is much less then haf, so for 1 dba (which at 19dba is not even gonna be noticed) you get lot more airflow for your money, IMHO at the end with a case its about airflow and room and price, haf wins on all 3 fronts. Edited by DST4ME - 24 Aug 2011 at 4:24am |

i play wow, rift, SW: TOR when it comes out, SC 2, and Civ 5. all settings at max is expected. I used to run 3x 5870s but as we all know some games don't like sli very much so if i need to drop to a 1080p monitor at 24-25 inches i wouldn't be adverse to that.
DST4ME: how are the cases in terms of footprint vs the HAF that we are talking about here |

If I'm not mistaken, the HAF-X has 3x200mm, 1x230mm, and 1x140mm, just FYI. That's if you install a second 200mm up top, it only comes with one stock.
And I believe gtaylor was talking about the HAF 932, which is slightly smaller inside, I think, and actually has 3x230mm and 1x140mm. It looks a little smaller in person than the HAF-X but I believe its only real difference (in size) is it's a couple inches shorter. Edited by FuseAQM - 25 Aug 2011 at 1:22am |

You are correct on the fans. The 932 also has less expansion slots on the back, and can't fit some of the really huge motherboards that the 942 can. |
