If you buy a Radeon HD 4850/4870 today, you can go use it on Linux right away! They've actually been running the RV770 under Linux for about eight weeks now, which then gave them the idea and allowed them time to ship this driver to consumers via the driver CD included with the retail graphics cards. For the record, NVIDIA has never included Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris drivers on the disk with their graphics cards.

That's very cool. I have also read that people that own an HD3870 already can XFire with the new cards. I didn't expect that.

Its nice to see Computer company's paying attention to the Linux community. Its much deserved & the community is huge. Maybe this will encourage more Game developers to develop for Linux. That would be great. I think MS would have a run for its money then. :)

I'm running dual boot with Ubuntu 8.04/Compiz-Fusion & vista ultimate 32bit

oh yeah, youtube compiz-fusion :)
