Said to be available in both 1GB and 2GB versions, the Radeon HD 4870 X2 will utilize GDDR5 DRAM chips and will require extra power through two (one 6- and one 8-pin) PCIe connectors. The card is expected to be launched next month and cost $499.

eh, its probably like the GX2 though, that 2GB is actually 1GB per GPU. Still better then the 512 the regular 4870s come with.

do we know if GeForce is working on the next, next gen cards (ie: 300's) or just tweak the 280's
