I recently got some bad crashes (BSOD's) and whatnot. So i fugure some new RAM would be one less thing to worry about. I have a EVGA 780i motherboard, and a Q6600 (sometimes overclocked) quad-core. vista 32-bit and a 9800gtx gpu. 750W PS. Please let me know what the best bang for my buck is for some new RAM(4GB preferably).
Thanks DSO forum members!!!!

What part about the ram are you not happy with? Knowing this will make it easier to pick new.

and stop posting the same exact question in different sectons.
if your ram is fine, then what is it you are trying to get from different ram? you wont' notice any difference between ram speeds. Edited by DST4ME - 24 Jul 2009 at 4:21pm |

well I have vista 32-bit, and 4Gb of 1066 RAM, and my computer really doesnt seem to run that fast, ive tried reformats and fresh windows installs and its kinda fast but also a bit laggy, especially after startup, and my startup programs are limited. ive used programs to help and for some reason it just doesnt feel like a system should with 4Gb of fast RAM, sorry for duplicate posts.

780i is an old platform now, and your q6600 is concidered super old. an i7 out performes a qx9770 by upto 40%, I can't imagine how much better then a q6600 it is.
the dell runs faster how? whats in the dell? |

It may seem "old" to someone who works for a company that survives by putting only the cutting edge out on the market, but my system is certainly not old to the average home pc market. The Dell is certainly less equipped than mine is. I have been getting bad errors like bsod and irql not less or equal codes and I am super frustrated

OK well listen I'm just trying to help you, I don't' work for DS and have many PCs myself, from my p4 3.8GHz to my qx9650, if I or others have an old CPU, they then have an old PC.
I didn't mean that it does not perform well or its not good, its just that as far as CPUs go, that is an old chip, I don't mean to put it down or anything like that. now as far as your problem, can you give me the BSOD error text and numbers please. have you run memtest also? I can understand the frustration, hand in there we will figure it out. how many apps start with pc? Edited by DST4ME - 26 Jul 2009 at 4:19pm |

if you can try and put your raid back exactly as it was before and it might work.
