Just got my new Lumos a few days ago and it arrived with only 16GB of RAM instead of the 32GB that was ordered. Called DS and they immediately shipped out the 32GB replacement sticks.

I am a little reluctant about sticking my hands/fingers onto the computer components for fear of knocking something loose or breaking a circuit board by exerting too much force when pushing the new sticks in-place, not to mention static electricity damage.

I have replaced RAM sticks on 1 previous occasion on a different computer and the amount of force required to get the cards into the slots was causing me a lot of concern.

I will make all efforts to ground myself before touching anything.

I should add that these are the Corsair RGB cards. Am I allowed to push down on top of the RGB light coverings on top of the cards?

Any thoughts/tips about getting the new RAM into the slots without damaging something?

Yes ground yourself, shut down and unplug your PSU.    You can buy a grounding wrist strap, but grabbing the metal part of the chassis should do nicely...try not to shuffle your feet...lol.   Refer to your motherboard info for which slots to use.

RAM slots should have pivoting clamps on both ends...push down on clamp to release the RAM sticks that are coming out...remove straight up and out.   New RAM will only fit in correct orientation in slot due to the pin gap...push new sticks straight down into the empty slot till it snaps the end clamps shut.    Easy to do.   Then plug in and power up...should be plug & play.

So, no concerns about applying pressure to the plastic that covers the RGB lights on top of the cards.

It's still just RAM built to be firmly pushed down and seated in the slot (end clamps will close and lock it down), and to be pulled out by hand exactly like any other RAM stick...just don't overdue it and you should be fine.

Here's a video showing installations...They sort of push down over the end part of the sticks...

Job complete. The old cards came out and the new ones went back in very easily - just a slight push on each end to snap them in-place.

These required substantially less force than the RAM cards that I installed on my old computer.

Plugged everything back in and booted up. The system now shows 32GB of RAM.

Yes, they are all lit up in iCUE.

During the intial boot-up, I did see a message briefly appear about pressing the F1 or F2 keys to reconfigure memory in the Bios.

I just let WIN10 keep booting and everything seems to be ok.

Speccy is showing 32GB of installed RAM. I gave DS a quick call about the need to reconfigure the Bios and they said it should not be necessary. So, I assume all is well - everything seems to work.

I will post some unboxing pictures of the new Lumos in the next day or so.

Congratulations on upgrading your system without issues. You are on the way to become very familiar with your pc. Enjoy.

It is normal for the system to show the BIOS keys during boot up.
