I was wandering if I get a system with 667mhz or a 800mhz or even a 1200mhz. what is the biggest difference in them. I know that ram deals with how fast a system is. But am I answering my own question when I say it's mainly for games. Because I can not get a second DVD player and get 1200mhz of ram or I can get a second DVD player and just stick with 667 or 800mhz. I'm doing all this research and still have a few (I know strange) questions. Any help would be great.

The biggest difference in them is price. The performance gain is very minimal if you aren't planning to overclock.
667mhz and 800mhz will be fine for you depending on what CPU you plan on getting. 1066mhz is a waste of money. And I also see no reason to add another DVD drive if you are building this PC for gaming. Edited by skyR - 07 Aug 2007 at 7:08pm |

Funny that this thread got started, as I am now writing a docet on Ram and OS usage. (will be in the performance section later tonight) If you have a 1066 processor, go with the 1066 ram for the best performance. If you go higher than that with the ram you will be limited by the Processor and if you go lower than that, you will be bottlenecked by your ram.
Keep it as close to the same as your processor if you're not OCing.

Thanks, I think I'll just get the 800mhz. I'll look forward to reading the Kelly.
