Any other recommendations?

I'm currently using dominator 1066 PC2 6400, which I can't seem to find in 1066, only 800.  I'm looking to upgrade to 4gb, so I guess I will replace the two sticks I have and buy an additional two.  Any thoughts? thanks!

Hey-

Thanks Tyler.  Should I select ram that is SLI ready- does it really make a difference?

I think "SLI ready" is mainly a branding strategy that is designed to get you to spend more $$$. I think making sure the RAM is confirmed by the manufacturer to be 100% compatible with your motherboard is much more important than a brushed aluminum badge on the heat spreader, and as far as I can tell, that is about the only thing "SLI ready" gets you.

When looking for RAM, I'd be on the lookout for: capacity, speeds that can keep up with my FSB setting, decent timings, dual channel, postive customer experiences, and price.... probably in that order.

Thanks!

Well given my set up, and that I have a FSB of 1333- which ram would you select.  You seem to know what you are talking about and I'm pretty slow when it comes to computers!  I will be running windows vista 64 bit, so I am looking for 4gb.

Here's the math, so you'll know what you're looking at, and be able to make an informed buying decision, rather than taking my word for it:

FSB 1333MHz/4 = 333.25

333.25*2= ~ DDR2 667

This is your minimum recommended RAM speed. It represents a 2:1 ratio, and it will work just fine for your FSB setting.

I like to run at a 3:2 ratio or better to help offset latency. 4:3 is also fairly easy to achieve, so if that lands you at a RAM's rated speed, that would work for me also.

1333/3 = 444.33
2*444.33 = 888.66, so~800MHz with a mild overclock, or higher speed with an underclock and tighter timings.

1333/4 = 333.25
3*333.25 = ~1000MHz, or PC8000, which, combined with the guaranteed compatibility, good reviews, and value for the $$$ is what lead me to recommend the set I posted. I also prefer to populate only two slots as this requires less voltage on the northbridge, and people are generally reporting better stability at higher speeds than when all 4 DIMMs are filled.

Thanks Tyler.  I went with your recommendation- I couldn't pass up that price based on the stats and huge number of positive recommendations.

Thanks again, appreciate it.
