System: Vanquish level4
Known: 4 available Ram slots are two colors> 2 mustard yellow, 2 brown. 2 mustard yellow slots were shipped w/4gb ddr3 1600mhz sticks [x2, total 8gb]. Question: Is there a difference between mustard yellow & brown slots regarding type of memory sticks used? Or can I simply add 2 more sticks of 4gb ram to each existing brown slots to increase memory? [mobo Asus Z87-C]. [are colored slots coincidental?]. Confused ![]() Dan |

The different colored slots are to differentiate the primary from secondary slots. The mustard/yellow slots are primary and need to be populated first, then added sticks can be added to the other two. They all use the same ram sticks and should since mixing ram speeds, timing, such as 9-9-9-24, can cause issues. Not always but can happen..
Hope this helps. |

Thanks for advice, sounds like a simply plug 'n play upgrade.
I'll be sure to match exactly the ram DS supplied w/unit when the time comes. Dan |
