below i listed all my hardware, i started playing with the windows sidebar gadgets and i found one for monitoring the load of quad core processors called multi meter 4 cores.
it shows my cores at 1-4 while idle, which im sure is fine, but it shows "RAM" at a constant 35-43% with just things like skype, aim, iexplorer and maybe some music going
first off, does this thing have any credibility or is it full of sh*t?
and secondly, is that high of ram % normal/safe for near idleing

Ender, when i am doing nothing my ram is at 23-30 %

It's pretty normal.  I use the G15 Logitech keyboard and the performance monitor always tell me what my ram usage is.

I have 2gb 1055mhz btw

When im playing COD4 Maxed out I get my ram usage up to about 70-80%

Tabula Rasa maxed out I can get it up to 85%.

I would assume as long as your ram isn't over 95% percent or so, it means your ram isnt slowing youdown.

thanks again for your help guys, <3

so just curious, what does that % amount literally mean

and on a side note, would a temperature gauge be a good sidebar addition?

If you want to use less RAM don't use that sidebar as it's probably 5-10% of what's being used when idle.

Windows xp shows page file memory

"memory on your hard drive used as ram"

Windows Vista shows physical ram memory

"memory on your actual memory"

thats why people think that xp doesnt use anything. If xp showed you your memory, it would take up:
about 512 mb on minimum
