Hi. I am completely new to overclocking, and I figured I would try it out, but I think somehwere I made a mistake.
I have the following that I feel is related to the problem:
xfx 790i ultra motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66 ghz (1333 mhz fsb) (12mb cache)
2 GB ddr3 Corsair at 1600mhz DHX
Now on to the problem:
I had reset my bios to default after an update recently, I thought I went through and got everything put back in order. I had decided to up my fsb to 1600mhz to make full use of my ram and get a little more processing power. I had downloaded Everest to monitor system temps while I run the OCCT test. I decided to go through and look at some of the stuff Everest was reporting, and under the motherboard/chipset area, it said my RAM speed was clocked at 1066 mhz. I went into the bios to make sure that the memory closk and fsb clock were both 1600, which they were. I'm stumped right now. Is there something I missed that I need to get my RAM back up to speed? Also, if this belongs in another menu, like tech support, please let me know and I will post over there instead. Thanks.

Here are the settings from the bios fsb and memory config page
CPU Freq, Mhz: 3200.0
FSB Memory Clock Mode: linked
FSB Memory Ratio: Sync Mode
FSB, (QDR) MHZ: 1600
Actual FSB (QDR), MHZ: 1600.0
xMEM (DDR), MHZ: linked
Actual MEM (DDR), MHZ: 1600.0
P1: Auto
P2: Auto
Memory Timing Settings: Expert
TCL (Cas Latency): 9
tRCP: 9
tRP: 9
tRAS: 24
Command Per Clock (CMD): 2T
tRRD: Auto(6)
tRC: Auto(41)
tWR: Auto(12)
tWTR: Auto(18)
tFAW: Auto(25)
tREF: Auto(7.7uS)
tRFC: 756
From what I have read, my memory should be detected at 1600 mhz (which is it's stock clock), but Everest is reading it clocked at 1066.

Im not a ram expert but try selecting unlinked ram and force it to run at 1600.

Is it possible these programs are reporting the ram speed wrong?

I just got off the phone with Randy at Digital Storm (awesome guy btw). He had me download cpuid and in that program my memory reads at the correct 800mhz. I think maybe pcwizard and everest might not have support for all the ddr3 memory cards yet. Anyways, problem solved, thanks guys.

LOL, you are very welcome, but I did't do anything, in this case from the looks of things, I made a bigger mess by recommending pcwizard instead of cupid sorry about that
glad you got it figured out tho, now I know to not use pcwizard anymore either, cpuid has been right everytime, I think I will stick to that. |
