I was curious so I decided to contact DS and asked how much for 16GB upgrade, the rep quoted me $402 something. Why so much? It says either I can put it in or send the PC to DS and send it back.

My question: Why $402?

I can buy 32GB for $179 elsewhere.

I'm not sure, why so high.

Thanks

Installing RAM is one of, if not ~THE~, easiest thing to do with a DS machine. I am not the world's computer expert, heck some days just turning my machine on is difficult, but I installed a RAM upgrade myself.

There are a number of sites on the web (Crucial.com) that will point you in the right direction.

Good luck.

I don't know why a 16 GB upgrade kit of DDR4 2666 mhz RAM would cost that much, unless they originally filled your 4 motherboard RAM slots with 4 x 4 GB and by going to 32 GB you would have to replace it with a 32 GB kit (4 x 8 GB or 2 x 16 GB)? Larger RAM stick sizes would cost more.

I agree with Snaike...RAM is definitely an upgrade you could easily do yourself and just buy what you want on Newegg or Corsairs site... Heck you could replace your DS RAM and get higher quality Corsair Vengeance or even Dominator RAM in a 2 x 16 GB kit at 3200 MHZ for less than $400...
