If i order the computer without a monitor will it be a problem hooking one up when i get the system. I ordered a dell xps a couple of years ago without the monitor and keyboard and when i went to hook them up it wouldn't accept it. I didn't even get the computer running and i had to send it back for a refund. Thats why i am here.

monitor setup is so easy its not even funny, you can call DS and they will walk you thru it if you don't feel comfortable.
find your monitor at newegg, you will get a better price, check here for some recommendations no reason to OC your graphic cards, thus no reason to liquid cool them, the HAF case has great air cooling and will keep your cards cool since the CPU is being liquid cooled. not sure what happened with your dell, I'm an ex dell customer also and I think there was something wrong with that PC, that situation is not normal at all. But a good think it happened because this pc will kick any xps's butt. I would recommend if you like, for you to add a second HDD (500GB) for storing your media/personal files so that the os drive stays clean and fast Edited by DST4ME - 20 Sep 2008 at 4:54pm |

With that ESA thing, how much do you have to do with that. I am the type of person that would like to have everything ready to go so i don't have to monkey around with adjusting things. I don't know as much about computers as you guys do.

If you don't care about tweaking, I would not pay for ESA.

Okay here is another question. How much tweaking is there with a computer like this? Once its setup you shouldn't have to touch it anymore should you?

TL is right if you don't want to mess with stuff then remove esa
once you get the pc and runing no there is nothing to mess with. you may want to go to your bios and write down the oc setting just incase you need them later. but remember you can always call DS, and get an english speaking person walk you thru anything you like.

The ability to tweak to your heart's content with hardware like this is there. DSO is going to set it up when they build it, so if that is not something you care for, it's also not neccesary. In this way, if you are a hardcore computer enthusiast you can have fun fine tuning to your personal tastes, and if you are not, you will get a system that will knock your socks off anyway, pre-tuned for performance.

some very old games maybe but most programs run on vista, you can run 32bit apps on vista 64bit no problem
well its not loud but its not exactly quiet either but for your setup you can't go any lower

I'm running 64 bit ultimate ed, and have had zero issues with anything. Maybe before service pack 1 there were problems, but older apps just run in 32 bit mode- again, no issues I can report here.
Corsair PSU's are among the best on the market. The HX series is whisper quiet, and very efficient. The 1000W version is a touch louder than the smaller units, but very quiet for it's capacity.

no the oc depends on your cooling (case, heatsink, air/liquid cooling) and mombo... well lets just say every system is different.

Every chip overclocks differently. Selecting better cooling and RAM ensures you get as close to the individual chip's performance potential, but there are no garantees of the final result.
The time frame between upgrades is dependant on how tolerant you are of lagging behind bleeding edge performance. For some, this type of system might last close to 8 years. For others, they would not be comfortable using it for more than a year or 2. The choice on how often to upgrade is a function of personal taste and often, wallet. yes but in this case he is getting the top of the line CPU that is offered now, and he can't upgrade that anymore cause for the new CPU, he will need new mombo, chip, heads kink, liquid cooling.
this pc will last you a long time. Edited by DST4ME - 20 Sep 2008 at 5:07pm |

I hope it lasts along time because its alot of cash. If i got a monitor on Newegg does it come with all the cables i would need to hook it up. The dell thing really pissed me off with the monitor and keyboard |

Yeah, to upgrade your system from this, you're talking replacement, but there it is. Some people would not be able to stand the idea that something faster is out there. Other people don't upgrade until the system they own just won't do something they need it to. Again, it's a personal decision. That's not a judgement of the system as configured, just an observation about end users, and how everyone's level of tolerance for a system that is not up to the moment is different. My guess with this system, is that with a graphics card update every two years, you might be able to get a good 6 years out of it.

very little maintence, you may wantto check your levels once a month, with teh haf you can just add liquid if needed.
have a look here:
other then that, you may want to clean your system every 5 years, and DS will help you with that if you like Edited by DST4ME - 20 Sep 2008 at 5:25pm |

unless you are doing heavy graphic work, (3D and etc.,) I think 4GB is plenty for a long while, but you can always buy more and add to it, your system can hold atleast 8GB of ram.
but for games and other normal stuff you should be ok Edited by DST4ME - 20 Sep 2008 at 5:35pm |
