Razer AC-1 + Mako = Wait, what?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you rig up a Razer AC-1 sound card to a Razer Mako 2.1 speaker system? I noticed for some awkward reason the Mako doesn't even have optical input, so would you get as good quality as you would using a regular optical system?
 
And how would you use virtual surround sound... They BOTH have options for it, how exactly would you set it up...
 
Just questions I've been wondering about for a long time.

I'm curious about this too... Looking to get either the Mako speakers or Logitech Z-2300. Not sure if the Mako is worth the extra $$. I like that they downfire tho :).
