You selected a reader optical drive not a writer.
And you don't need stage cooling if you're not going to overclock it, the pro case is cool enough as long as you adjust the 8800GT's fan speed.

The thing is my apt gets preaty hot in the summer with the santa anna winds and I do not have any ac in the apt. The computer will stand alone and not be closed in any enclosure like a desk cubbie or anything like that. Do you still think stage one collign is good to go.
Forgive my noobie ness but don't i want a drive that will read the cd I put in.
Or does the writer mean that they write it to the HDD? Edited by Getout - 16 Jan 2008 at 3:27pm |

The Optical drive should be an RW +- drive, this means it will be able to both read data from a CD/DVD as well as write data to a CD/DVD. For the cooling, stay with Stage 2 if your apartment gets decently hot. No one has complained yet about their system running too coldly.

Made some changes and here is what I got. Not the next question I have.
If I upgrade the sound card to the 30.00 option will i hear the diffrence or would i be better suited to just go with the onboard. I know the big deiffence is just freeing up an cpu cycle. Also they can can pick up on some smaller sound better.

I have the cheap sound card, and I notice a huge difference.. but thats' mainly just with options you can do with the sounds, well worth the money in my opinion.

I disagree with Solo on this one. I think it's a waste of cash. Then again, I see a sound card as another way to remove stress from my CPU. So I would recommend going with an X-FI series, because they have an APU (Audio Processor). The sound quality from your onbaord can be improved by getting some sound software. Even Winamp can help you fine tune your music by using the equalizer. However, this is all just my opinion. Save the money and get a good X-FI later on when you feel yourself lacking performance.

I know how important it is to hear the little sounds. Right now while playing COD4 on the ps3 hearring the click of a claymore or the pull of a pin is a big deal. But I am also shur they will be heard with onboard sound as well. |

the sound card option is 95% about freeing up the processor by giving all sound responsibilies to the APU on the sound card
i see no point in a sound card with no apu

At least with the motherboards we sell. There are still mobos out there that don't support 7.1 surround audio. However, when you deal with the top shelf motherboards like we do, a $30 sound card isn't going to make much of a difference. |
