First I would like to thank the DS Staff for helping me configure this beautifly built machine. I am so impressed with the attention to detail, its just the nicest setup I have ever seen. All of the DS staff that I spoke to was courteous, helpful and friendly. Its been a very satisfying experience.
I bought this computer to mainly play WOW...I started playing online games back in 1997 when I accidently stumbled upon Ultima Online...I still have an account there even tho I rarely play it. I can't seem to give up those characters I created...I know its sounds silly but I am attached to them. I thought the graphics on my Pentium 4 3.4mghz using a Nvidia 7600 GS 512mb machine was really good..until I see what this machine does...its just simply gorgeous and smooth with fps consistenly over 60. Is it worth it to spend all this money on a computer for this....some would say no Im sure...but for me its worth every penny...you see I wil be 68 next wednesday...and my days now are spent playing computer games and 4 days a week I play tennis for about 3 hours each day...its very true you know when they say "men are still kids at heart they just have more expensive toys" Its great to grow old and stay in shape...I feel young and enjoy everyday....now I can act like a kid again and no body bothers me about it...lol Oh yes I recently got my wife to start playing WOW and she is addicted..we have a lot of fun together in WOW.
My only problem with this machine is Windows Vista. Im finding it very hard to learn. For instance when I download a compressed file I still dont know how to get the file to the desktop to run it. Would appreciate some tips on that.
Again thanks to the staff at DS...you guys are pretty special!!!

Phil you made my day!
I'm waiting for my DS puter, and like you, even tho I haven't received it, I already feel the wait and the price is sure worth it. I'm a fan of FPS (COD 2 on-line) and racing sims (I have 2 race cars I play with, 1 I road rces with, and 1 I race on the frozen lakes up here (Alaska) when we can get enough ice and participants. So the puter is my winter fun, seeing as we seen to have an abundance of darkness. Something has to keep my reflexes sharp for the dirt bike playing I do during the summer. Oh ya, I'll be 65 in March.
Good to see another old codger playing puter games.

Wow........ And people pick on me because I am 44 years old and crazy about FPS games! I played Battlefield 1942 when It first came out for so long I thought I would lose my job! Its been a great ride since then.
I can not wait until my new "super computer" arrives so that I can crack open this Crysis box...... and re-play BioShock like it was meant to be played!
Grats to the both of you!

Its always good to see others my age still having fun and doing things they enjoy. I really dont care anymore what people think of anything I do. I basicly do what I want to do when I want to do it...I think I have earned it. I have a great wife who knows how hard I worked and knows the many things I missed because of work and gives me no static about what I do now...well within reason anyway lol. Thanks for responding to my post.

If you want to help out the DSO guys spend a couple of minutes and fill out a review @ http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Digital_Storm
And unless I'm mistaken, for Vista and compressed files: You can treat them simplily as any other folder. You can click into them find the file you want to run and either click on it and run it from there, or copy it and move it to your desktop.

My oldest sister is a pharmacist in her mid-40s and has played more FPS games than I have!
I'm always amazed at the games she's completed that I either don't have or never finished. Over the years, I've bought her things like Half-Life 2, No One Lives For Ever, and so on.
She loved F.E.A.R., but so far this year I've only picked up HL2: Ep1 for her as I wait for her to email me her current system specs. Edited by 67alecto - 19 Nov 2007 at 3:46pm |
