Hey guys. Been doing research on this for the last several days till my eyes are bleeding, when I thought " Hey, the guys over on the DS forums are all PC enthusiasts, why not ask their opinions? ". So, looking at G-Sync, IPS monitors, preferably 144hz or more; What are your reccomendations for the above set-up?

I'm a huge fan of 38" ultrawide G-Sync IPS monitors. If you have space for a large monitor, then I would recommend them.

Right now I have the LG 38GL950G, and I freakin love it!

I have also heard good things about the 38" Acer Predator X38. I had the 34" version of that previously, and I loved it.

Another one that I keep hearing good things about is the Alienware AW3821DW.

By the way, here is a list of all G-Sync monitors. I think it's helpful to sort the table by monitor size:

Enjoy your research!
Velox, Intel Core i9 11900K, ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Hero
32GB RAM, 1TB Samsung 980 Pro NVME
RTX 4090, 38" Ultrawide LG-38GL950G
Noctua NH-D15S cooler and NF-A14 fans, Corsair AX1600i PSU

Do you already have this computer? It's an awfully high-end build to include the slowest M.2 SSD here for your primary drive. The DS is SATA III. The Samsung 980 is NVMe, and from 9-12 times faster. No-brainer.

Generally, you want an IPS panel for better visuals, and G-Sync "COMPATIBLE" is going to work fine but tends to be a bit less expensive than monitors with the Nvidia tech upgrade. With a 3080, screen "tearing" won't be an issue anyway. Don't waste the money unless the monitor you decide you "must have" is G-Sync only.

Thanks to you both.

@Cretae, I have the 2tb Firecuda to run games, which if I being honest is really the only time I worry about speed. The 500gb DS SSD is only for boot really, and my basic programs. I know people love speedy boot times, but for me it just really isn't that much of an issue.

Do you think the Firecuda will prove plenty speedy gamewise? Obviously the Samsung is faster, but I would think the Seagate SSD would be speedy enough.

Actually, it's overkill.

IMHO, the primary is where you want/need the speed. Running Win, browsers, maintenance software, and every other program that actually requires computing power to to get from A to B is where the kind of speed available from an NVMe drive shines the best. If you don't run frequent scans on your boot drive for viruses, cookies, malware and the like, you should. An NVMe will get that done up to 10 times faster than a SATA drive. Boot-up is not the be-all.

By contrast, games are fixed and scripted. There are very few complex computations going on all at once, since A has to happen before B,C, or D occurs. They must load in a very specific set order every time, so NVMe speed doesn't contribute much. It's almost all in the hands of the GPU.

You have your priorities exactly backwards. You want/need all the speed you can get to take advantage of the CPU and RAM you paid for to do number crunching and file scanning, not loading/playing games. For that, a SATA drive will do just fine.

If you gimp your whole system with a SATA primary drive, you might as well just get a six-core and 16 GB of RAM, 'cause the CPU and extra RAM will be idle waiting for the info from your drive. We are talking TEN TIMES slower. Up to you.

And this is why it's nice to get advice from PC enthusiasts when you're kinda a newbie. Thanks Cretae!
Guess I'll be calling tomorrow to swap the primary drive. Luckily, I'm still in the backlog que, so shouldn't be an issue.

With that out of the way; back to the original question,

I've narrowed it down to these 3.

Asus ROG Swift PG329Q
Acer Predator XB323UGX
Samsung Odyssey C32G75T

What do you guys think?

You are welcome. Glad to help.

Acer and Asus have been head-to head with their Predator and Rog Stix monitors for several years. They were quite a bit more costly just a couple of years ago. They are fine brands and pretty much interchangeable in my view.

In a monitor of this size, though, I think you should give strong consideration to the curved model. 32" is a lot to take in at once, and the Odyssey gets my vote for that reason.
