Budget:
Trying to keep under 4k

Expectations:
I currently own an old ************ Aurora and it lasted me a good 7 years. I'm looking for a setup that will again stand the test of time without too much updating in the future and looking nice is always a bonus.

Usage:
Will mainly be used for video games of all sorts. I bounce around from game to game a lot.

So I'm not the most computer savvy but I thought I could get this setup and throw the collector edition starwars Titan Xp into it.(Big star wars fan) My thinking behind it is that it should last a long time right? or am I just being an idiot here? I have no experience with water cooling is that something that will require lots of maintenance?

also, I have a spare 500gb ssd I can use if need be

The Bolt X build looks good, but I would change to no overclock.  The 8700k Turbos to 4.7 on single core and steps down to 4.6 on second, etc, which is plenty for a gaming rig.   Less heat generated and less stress on the cpu.   There was a day not long ago we always recommended oc but the 8700k changed that for me.

Change the SSD M.2 to the 960 Pro.   You know what you're getting and has a 5 year warranty.  DS brand I'm sure is very good, but its warranty might expire with the rig's warranty, 1 year unless you up it.

Tough to recommend a video card without knowing the monitor resolution.  The Titan family for the most part was more bragging rights than needed for gaming.   The Stars Wars edition is way out there in cost but if you're a fan then that can trump the expensive.  Not needed though.  The 1080Ti will perform just as good for tons less money if you use a 4K screen, or 1440p 144hz on ultra settings.

Thanks for your input

I changed the ssd over to the one you recommended and ordered the system. The 1080 ti was the better pick but the force was just too strong with the titan and I just had to get it

Now to begin the waiting game.

Congrats.

We have another longtime forum member that had to get the same video card, the force too strong to resist.

To get Verified Customer badge make sure your email on the forum match’s what you used to order.   The match has to be Exact, meaning caps, punctuation, etc.
