Well the rig is here, but no software on board to try out the blue-ray/dvd read/writer or the DVD/CD read/writer. Any suggestions for a software suite that will take care of all that and allow me to watch the blue ray dvd's?
Will post review in the review section once I've taken the rig around the block a few times.

CDBurnerXP Pro 4.2.7.1849 is a freeware burner that will do what you want.

as far as playing bluray, you will need a player like powerdvd.

ShockedYou can download a 15 day trial version of Nero's Blu-Ray Playback Software at this site:

That should test both drives unless you want to burn BluRay.....JPT

Shocked@DST4ME,

When you purchase a stand alone CD/DVD reader/burner The software is provided and any computer I've purchased with a CD/DVD drive has included at least one, sometimes rudimentary, program for its use.

So, why doesn't Digital Storm include any software? You would think the BluRay drive providers would include at least a playback program for use with their hardware?

I understand that custom builders like to tout their creations contain NO bloatware; but I don't think the software necessary to run the included hardware can be considered "bloatware". Is there some reason for this situation other than cost? Are there proprietary laws involved or what?

I am extremely curious as to why? Thanks in advance for any input....JPTConfused

Well I'm just a customer, as you said no bloatware, but I agree that with your dvd/bluray drive you should get the software player.

check your cd/dvds that came with the system and see if there is one in there, if not, then check the site from your bluray manufacturer and see if you can get the software for free there.

that nero plugin you posted a link for sucks, it crashes and is slow.

In re, thanks for the heads up on the Nero software. I've had no experience with it and the post was for the guy just to test his BluRay player. However, if it crashes, that won't be much of a test. Sorry, I guess I shouldn't present an idea before I've tried itBig%20smile...My Bad.......JPT
