GPU
GPU GPU and then.... GPU... Then after awhile you'll find that a RAM upgrade will be a good idea as well. With RAM you have to be careful to match the pairs. I'm not sure if the Lynx motherboard has 2 or 4 lanes for RAM so it might just be easier to buy new as opposed to adding on, if you take my meaning. I'm certain The Smart Guys® will be along shortly to put in their 2¢, but here's a start. Good luck and have fun... and, btw, Welcome to Digital Storm!!

thanks for replying! to be honest i am very nervous about ordering a graphics card because i am unsure on compatibility issues as i am new to computers so if you could recommend a graphics card for me that would be amazing!! i am willing to spend up to 600-700 CAD, i am just worried about spending a ton of money on something that isn’t compatible with my computer is all. i appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post!!

Good question. The Lynx 1 has a power supply that will not be strong enough to go beyond an RTX 2070. Your choice of GPU should match what you need to drive your monitor. If you're getting or have a 1080p (pixel count 1920x1080), the best is the RTX 2060 SUPER, but you would also get a really good experience and save$ with the NON-SUPER 2060. Still an excellent choice.
A higher res monitor would require the 2070, (2560x1440 pixels is called 1440p or 2K), but you would be at the edge of what your power supply will handle, and it might not be such a great thing to be maxed out with newer cards coming in the Fall. Your motherboard will come with 2 RAM slots. They will each have a 4GB RAM stick, so to upgrade, you will have to get 2 8GB sticks, and just say goodbye to the others. I would recommend you put that on the back burner until it seems you need the better performance. (Could be a year or two.) Almost every game in the world will play on 8 GB of RAM. Some games may be able to use more, but they will still play well on 8. Come back with more questions if you have 'em.

Have you ordered yet? I ask because I looked at your configuration last night and looked at the Lynx 2 or 3. The Lynx 3, at a $600.00 higher price, would come with:
i7-9700F RTX 2060 GPU 16GB of RAM; and, adds a 240GB SSD as a boot drive. I agree with Cratae. I looked at your motherboard last night and for you to upgrade RAM you need to toss whatever will be in there in order to put two new sticks of RAM in place, so if that is a planned upgrade you may waste the amount money that was spent in the original build. Actually the same can be said of all the parts. Any parts replaced may not be useful to anyone in the future. So my question is whether it is possible to order a Level 3 instead of a Level 1. In the long run you will have a better computer that you won't need to upgrade in order to have a good gaming experience for years to come. |

i have the lynx 1 right now, and if i could go back and do it again i would :( however i don’t mind putting some money towards upgrading this computer, this is a priority for me right now as i can’t even play some games because integrated graphics just can’t keep up. pretty much the only thing that has held me back from upgrading my computer is the fact that i don’t know nearly enough about what i’m doing. all the names for GPUs is really confusing for me so i think i’ve decided to go with the non super 2060, as i don’t want to cheap out but i also don’t want to break the bank.

That should give you a very pleasing experience! IMO, you will do fine just upgrading the Lynx 1 for quite awhile. The CPU is capable of doing a good job for you for several years. The limiting factor may become the power supply someday, but never if you stick to 1080p gaming. I've been using a 1080p monitor for 10 years, and I'm not disappointed yet!
