Topic: Recovery disc question(s) Posted: 18 Oct 2008 at 2:09pm |
Does the recovery disc provided in the DS sales package include the OC to the CPU and RAM that came with my system?
Will using the system restore disc return my computer to the EXACT state in which it shipped? If not, what cannot be restored? Cheers |

you can alway at anytime enable or disable your OC from the bios. OC is just settings in the bios.
when you get your PC back and its oced, go to bios and write down the OC settings (you call DS and have them walk you thru which ones the first time ). once you have your OC settings then you can go to bios and choose to set bios back to default, in one shot this will remove all OC settings. when ever you want to try the OC back, you just go back into bios and put the settings back to what you had written down the only thing that the restore CD won't restore is the OC. |

Seems that it actually held the OC after the recovery, at least that's what the BIOS and Everest are telling me. I could be wrong though, happens from time to time Thanks for the quick reply. Cheers |

if you didn't change the bios settings then yes it will be there.
but you are recommended to set bios to default before you restore. so I think what happened was that bios was not set to default so the settings were still there. but I can assure you that the restore CD does not set bios settings if you have anymore questions let me know |

There should be a page of detailed instructions for this process in your Digital Storm 3-ring binder. I believe it's Restore Kit first, then the image disk when requested.

It's kind of confusing, and doesn't mention using two disks... |

you can just do a fresh instal with your windows disk and then download the drivers off the internet. You using antivirus? That would be the easiest way to fix.

so i can just system restore the regular way, download the video drivers from the CD's in my binder, and not have to worry about the digital storm restore disk?
B/c, the restore disk isnt respoding at all... ive tried hitting F8, F10, and F12. Then Delete brings me to the blue BIOS page, but i dont know where to go from there. Edited by Clinx - 23 Dec 2008 at 5:38pm |

yeah you can do it just by putting the windows disk in and rebooting. youll lose all thats on your pc though. I would download your drivers from websites they may be more current.
