I was considering purchasing an air compressor and perhaps a vacuum to prevent my desktop from accumulating a lot of dust. From what I understand, both would need to be portable and not plugged into an outlet? Any product recommendations and safety tips while cleaning would be really helpful since I don't want to damage any parts. Thank you.

If you just use the regular air cans and clean once a week, it will take your like 2 minutes and no need for a compressor or vacuum, with both you have to be careful not blow/suck capacitors and such.

Hi ArthurKoQ,
I use canned air and a vacuum. I don't use the vacuum to clean any of the computer. When I blow with the canned air I hold the vacuum in the center of the computer but not close to components. As I blow any dust blown into the air is picked up by the vacuum. Frank |

Okay. I bought a few cans of compressed air, but I'm a little bit concerned with how they function. Most of the time it'll blow out air and other times it'll spit out some liquid before it begins shooting air. Is it still safe to use?

Yep, that's perfectly normal. Just try to keep the can as upright as possible, it will minimize the occurrence of the bottle spraying liquid. Also, try to keep the liquid off of you, it can sting as it is extremely cold.If the can starts to get really cold (from prolonged use), its normally best to let it set for awhile, as performance will decrease as the can starts to ice up.

Tidgxor nailed it on the head about everything he said, stop using if too cold, keep it upright, normally it sprays liquid if you shake it or not have it upright.
of course make sure pc is off. Edited by DST4ME - 23 Nov 2011 at 3:31am |
