Hello all,

I recently bought an RTX 2080 to replace my GTX 1060. The 1060 has a 6 pin power connector while the 2080 has (2) 8 Pin power connectors. My question is this, my psu has what looks like 6+2 pins, do those work like 8 pin connectors if I use the +2 pins in the 8 pin slots? Also do I need to run a power connector to both of the 8 pin connectors? Any help would be much appreciated.

The 6+2 connector is the 8 pin connection you need.    Just clip the 2 pin to the 6 pin and plug into the 8 pin receptacle on the graphics card.

You do need to use both 6+2 pin connectors on the card.   There should be another one within the wiring.   Probably folded over and tywrapped in the wiring.

Congrats. That is going to be quite a change in graphics power. It is a pretty straightforward R&R once you have the power connection figured out.

I have installed it and it seems to be running smooth. Is it weird that the fans dont always spin until the card gets a little warmer. Its been running at about 38 c with slight load on it so the temps havnt been to hot at all. Do some cards have fans that only spin when the gpu hits a certain tempurature?

A lot of the 2 and 3 fan custom coolers on graphics cards have fans they call, zero rpm fans, meaning they turn on at about 60 c, every card a little different.

Enjoy.

Excellent! Awesome

Keeping fans off until needed serves to save power. You can adjust the curve for when you want them on. I have some that only come on at +35C. Enjoy. Big%20Smile
