Topic: Replacement PSU Posted: 05 May 2016 at 5:47pm |
Folks,
I am looking to replace the PSU on my 2013 Digital Storm Level 4 Marauder. The original (and still installed) unit is a Corsair GS600 (600 W). I confess to being lazy regarding tech research. ;) Any quick and dirty recommendations for a replacement? Regards, George |

Hi GeorgeH..... We'd need more info, like what's the budget and needs. Are you looking to replace a defective psu or upgrade to a higher wattage ? If it's working then why change it.
If you're running a single video card then the gs600 is probably all you need unless you want to overclock a 980 ti for example. I would get a modular or at least a semi modular psu. The fully modular has all the cables as plug in for easier future swapping. The semi modular has the 24 pin and 8 pin mobo cables hard wired. Edited by bprat22 - 06 May 2016 at 2:18am |

Sorry for the delay in responding.
The PSU has served me well but is starting to make stress noises (I know the sound from years of PC use). I'd rather replace it at my leisure than after a failure. So... same spec swap, in other words. |

Your GS600 is not modular at all.
left is your psu right is a modular, notice how the modular does not have any cables connected to it, you have to connect the cables, when replacing psu modular makes it very easy. so what bp22 is telling is that if you are up for it, get a psu that is modular so that its easier for you to work with. silverstone strider is a good line go with gold or higher tho. Or just get another GS600 and swap. Unless you want a bigger gpu and thus need a bigger psu, in which case let us know, but I think a good 600w strider should handle a single gpu upgrade.
