Greetings all,

I am looking to replace my (4) 8GB memory sticks with (2) 16 GB sticks.  I have a Asus Maximus Hero VIII motherboard, LGA 1151.  This computer is almost 5 years old.  Still runs great, but want to expand my memory.  Also was possibly looking to replace my (2) Strix 980ti's with a 2080, if that is possible.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Regards!

Not sure why you need to change your RAM. As long as they are paired for dual channel memory, your two sticks are fine. Now, if you are having memory problems (won't post), or you want faster memory, buying two replacement sticks are fine. Unless you can get a good deal with 16 gb sticks, I would stick with 4 x 8 sticks.

Here is a set of 4 from Amazon that is also on the Asus QVL:

Here is the Qualified Vendor List for the Hero VIII:

Thanks for the reply.  Just wanted to have two sticks instead of 4.  Thanks for the links!

As to the gpu r&r, you will be fine, make sure you check the size. The RTX 2080 is a bit longer. I switched 980s for 2080 Tis and the new cards almost hit the reservoir!
Use a single power cable per power slot on the card, so you will use two for the new one. Since you have two cards already the power cables are ready for powering the new one.

BTW: that is a very nice cooler. How do you like it?.

@hoserator no space issue since my corsair 540 case has ample room.  I my cooler fans are almost silent, so definitely like the cooler.
