Hello DS Community,

Any help I can get to figure out if I have overbuilt this system, or if I have, as I would prefer, built a computer that will not be hopelessly out of date in a few years, would be much appreciated.

I am not much of a gamer, I need this computer to facilitate all of my photo, video and adobe needs.

Kind Regards

I'm a gamer, but I have a bit of general knowledge of what you do. It doesn't look like overkill to me as long as you have the budget to spend. This quality I see will last awhile. You must realize tech won't stand still fo anyone, and everything gets outstripped in just a couple of cycles. The good thing these days is the tasks haven't changed as fast as the tech, so you're a little bit ahead of the game!

Your storage is way off the mark. You want an NVMe SSD for your primary drive. The EVO is a SATA drive. NVMes are 5 times faster than SATA with one of those as your main drive, your OS and all your software will get a quantum boost. If you must have 2TB in that slot, there is a Seagate Firecuda NVMe at 2TB. Either Samsung 980 or Firecuda will do. pick a size.

IDK what a "scratch disk/media cache is , but be advised the DS M.2 SSD is also a SATA part, if that's okay.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the Help Cretae,

This is an expensive set up. I am willing to spend what I need for a computer that I use for business and personal endeavors. I just keep thinking that for this price, even here at Digital Storm, I could get two computers for this price (I know, that's hilarious, right?)

So, here goes. I am a small business owner, and this is how I presently use my computer:

1. Create Documents and Spreadsheets
2. Edit as many as 25,000 Images a year (Mostly Jpegs)
4. Daily, use Photoshop for photos and graphics, Adobe Premier Rush for videos and slideshows, and occasionally Illustrator for graphics
5. Additionally use Zonar to edit photos
6. I might have all of the above programs open at once
7. Store said photos, graphics, slideshows and videos

I almost never use computers for gaming.

I like speed and reliability (But, who doesn't)

Knowing the above, would you be willing to make some additional recommendations?

Thanks

Incorporating your suggestions from before, here's what I have built.

All I can contribute at this point is that I understand your work to thrive on cores and threads. Check. Everyone wants great speed, and the Firecuda gives you instant everything from your OS and apps. Check. You benefit greatly from a lot of RAM for faster rendering and multi-tasking. Check.

IDK if you could benefit from a different mobo, or perhaps a Radeon GPU might perform better in an AMD rig. I would ask DS. You may have to be passed down the chain before you get the right guy who knows, or even get a call back, but DS will not deliberately try to upsell you. It's not their style IMO. It looks like a killer rig to me.
