Just got a new Aventum X. Youtube video does not match up with computer. How do I fill the reservoir before using it for the first time?

Congratulations and welcome to DS.

Sorry you are having this issue. I am surprised that there are no specific instructions on your model in the binder.

That said most reservoirs have 1 or more openings on the top that are covered with a screw on/off cap. On mine (Aventum III) you need a 6mm hex key (allen wrench) to remove. If none, then maybe you can unscrew the top.

Otherwise, unless another Aventum X user chimes in you'll have to give DS a call. Make sure you order extra coolant so that you have for refills. With time the level comes down and it's good to keep topped off.

Keep us posted.

I just unscrewed the top of the reservoir, filled the supplied squeeze bottle with coolant and filled the reservoir to about 80% full.

I replaced the cap and powered up the system for about 5 seconds and powered the system down. This checks the pump and ensures that nothing overheats.

I repeated the process, adding coolant if necessary until the level in the reservoir stabilized at about 80% full.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for the tip.

In order to avoid powering the system on and off, I use an ATX 24-pin power supply on/off jumper switch. You remove the 24-pin power cable from the mobo, hook up the 24-pin female jumper and you can turn your pump on and off without powering up the mobo. Very convenient and makes refilling easy.

Enjoy.
