I have been puzzled by a Chassis fan connection on my Sabertooth X79 not working and recently read an article stating you should always reset your Cmos after updating the Bios. I believe the battery for the Cmos was not in the board at the time of flashing the new Bios. Then the battery was installed and the Mobo placed into the PC case. Would placing the battery in after Bios flash cause an issue with certain function of the board? If no, should I attempt a Cmos clearing to see if it jump starts all the hard points on the board?
I'm debating whether or not to do this because other than the one Chassis fan connection all other aspects of the Mobo are working properly.

Huh. I actually in all my years of building PCs have never reset the CMOS.
The battery on the board basically keep settings native to the board in a "remembered" state. Examples would be like the system BIOS password, clock, etc. I do not see a BIOS flash with or without the battery doing anything special. If it does, just flash it again. Regards, Xii |
