I'm currently using a 32" TV for my monitor and its native resolution is 1360x768. I know I don't need a super powerful card for this but I still want something nice that will last a while and get the job done with games like Crysis 2 and future games (BF3) running as high and smooth as possible.

Is the 560 right for this? 560 Overclocked? Should I go down to something else? I originally wanted the 580 (and can afford it) but I don't want to buy the card and its being wasted due to my monitor.

Any advice would be great, thanks.

Honestly at that lower resolution and of the newer cards should be able to eat games for breakfast. Not knocking your set up, but I don't know if you have happened to go to the local electronics store and compared resolutions. Your native resolution is very low :(. My 15 inch laptop has a higher native resolution than your 32 inch tv. I would almost suggest getting a 570, and go out and buy a 27 inch monitor assuming it's in your budget. You would be astounded by the difference I'm sure. Again, I don't want to come across like I'm knocking your set up, but the difference is pretty huge. I just bought a new Samsung 27" monitor for my girlfriend from Costco and it was under $300.00.

Bottom Line: Any of the 560 - 580 cards should be able to absolutely decimate that resolution.

Thank you for the honesty and the help.

The monitor was a gift for my Birthday so that's that. I dont mind the resolution actually now that Im used to it. Most games I play (AC:B and Rift) look spectacular on the highest settings I can pull right now, which is nothing close to what a better PC could do.

That being said, I'll check out the 27 inch monitors at Sams and see if I can get a good deal. I'll go with the 570 just in case I do end up getting one.

Thanks

I would suggest downgrading your card if its only for that TV.  That TV is way low on resolution.

A 560 might even be overkill. Rofl.

So the consensus is for me to buy a new monitor it seems lol.

So theoretically speaking, if I owned a 27 inch monitor I should go with which card then? 570 or 580 with that above build?

Thanks again.

Its not the size of the monitor that matters, it the res of the monitor, I can show you a 27" with 1900 x 1200, and I can show you one with 2560 x 1600, so its all about the res, pic your monitor first then we will build the pc around that.

for 1360x768 res, a 560 is more then what you need.

your own build looks good but change the psu to corsair 750w.

Thanks DST for the reply.

Assuming I stick with my current monitor and go with your suggestions (psu and 560) should I be able to rock some of the newer games (crysis 2) and soon to come out games (SWtOR/GW2) at pretty high to max settings?

@ 1360x768 you should be able to rock most games if not all.

I hear crysis 2 is not as resource demanding as the older ones.
