Hey Guys,
I was hoping someone with knowledge of SSDs can help me out here. I have been reading online about SSDs and proper alignment of the drives. My question is if I install 2 new Intel 80GB SSDs in RAID 0 and do a fresh clean install of Windows 7 and then restore from an image created with Acronis Backup and Recovery 10, will the alignment of the drives be kept? Provided the original drives were properly aligned before the backup image was created. I know that when doing a clean install of Windows 7, it will automatically align the drives. I just need to now if I do a restore, will the alignment be intact?
Thanks,

Does anyone have any experience with this? From what I have been able to gather online, seems like the best course is to create the partition with the Windows 7 disc to align the drives properly then restore the image with Acronis.
Can someone confirm if this is the best way to go? Thanks, |

I gave up trying to run RAID 0 or RAID 1 without a "real" RAID card.
I do run SSD. Here is what I know. Do not run an SSD in any type of RAID. You can not use TRIM accross a RAID O or even a RAID 1, not yet. You would not only have all the normal issuse seen with Motherboard chip RAID but you would not be able to defrag "use TRIM" you drives.
Or, so I have been told by both Intel tech an DS tech.
I'm not a pro but thought i'd pass along what i've been told by real pro's
Hope that helps.
