    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 at 10:37pm
Hey everyone, got my eye on an upgraded system now that I can afford to again.

Budget:
$3500, will repurpose old peripheral hardware.

Expectations:
Bought the Vanquish 3 back in 2015 and while it's still holding up well, I want something with more power behind it. If I can get a solid 4 years out of $1600, I'm hoping to get 6-8 comfortably out of this new one. Minimum 2 monitors, maybe 3 if space allows. I want to be able to handle VR at some point as well.

Usage:
Ideally, this new system will be my workstation. The idea is to be able to browse, game, watch video and generally multitask without experiencing significant drops in performance like I do with my current machine. I play everything from CRPGS to FPS games, so I'm looking for high performing hardware.

I'm not particularly concerned with ultra performance in games, 1080p, windowed borderless on max or close to max and I'm satisfied, so long as I can achieve this level for a few years down the line.

Special Needs:
I like to have streams playing on my second monitor while I game, so the ability to have streaming services active without losing performance is really important.

The appearance of the machine is not a concern. I added lights because they were free, but I don't care what it looks like so long as it performs well. Noise isn't important as I usually have a lot of background sound anyway.

Welcome back spiffdanger. Awesome
That is a nice Lumos you have configured. Hit all the right spots. The gurus will undoubtedly come by and be more technical. That system should be good for a while. Enjoy. Big%20Smile

The saved ticket # is not your stated configuration.

Overall, I think you've done quite well. The 32 GB of RAM will serve you well, and it's quite inexpensive right now. Best gaming proc, highly regarded mobo, excellent PSU.

You probably know the 970 PLUS is the newer, faster SSD, but not going to be noticeably so. I wonder about the SATA SSD. As a secondary SSD storage, it's a might small. You might consider scheduling that purchase at a later date online as you can get a lot more for a lot less. A SATA SSD is simple to install. You also have the option with your mobo of installing a second 5x faster M.2 NVMe storage unit.

That's an excellent, massively powerful GPU, and it saves a ton of money over the big brother. It seems we agree the price of the Ti is ...yeah.

You should opt for the H115i PRO from Corsair. With that CPU overclocked, you do not want to stint on cooling. The DS part comes with the DS parts warranty you select; the Corsair has a 5 year warranty should it ever come into play.

I think you know you could spend more, but what you've done is pretty solid already. Just boost your cooler.

I think you have under valued the case fans for best cooling.   Upgrade to the better performing, quieter and certainly more entertaining Corsair LL or ML Series RGB fan kit.   Adds a Corsair fan control module that makes synchronization with other Corsair RGB components (Vengeance RGB RAM) and peripherals like keyboards and mouse possible for endless lighting options...including off...lol..using Corsairs excellent iCUE control software.    DS plain black stock fans will be more noisy, and covered only by the 1 yr system warranty. LL fans have a 2 yr and ML a 5 yr warranty.

Since you don't care about bling or noise all that much, maybe you go with stock fans? I've always had standard fans in three builds over 9 years, and they have not been loud, and only one 200mm side fan quit on me after 7 years of constant use. (I run my system 24/7.) The LLs are a lightshow, but if you don't care....

Just be aware that DS does not use Corsair quality & performance fans in the beautiful tempered glass Corsair 570X case. They will use a plain black budget choice fan as the stock fan selection.
