Got the machine in my signature back in 2007. About 10 months before the warranty was due to expire, I ended up having to send it back for a new mother board, graphics card, hard drive, and memory (MoBo failed and took everything else with it). That process unfortunately took about 2 months, and then not too long after getting it back, I had to send that replacement graphics card back and ended up getting a slightly newer one (9800 GTX vs my original 8800 GTX) in return.
Well, now it's 3 years later and my windows install got corrupted (most likely due to some bad sectors). I did a clean re-install, but I realized in the process of installing 200+ XP updates since Service Pack 2 was released that I'd really just rather have a new computer, especially since this HD is continuing to have issues and there will be another re-install in the near future, I'm sure. So, my daughter will inherit the Twister Pro, and I've decided to get a Vanquish Level 2. It looks like it will have everything I need. Order placed this morning. |

Congrats!
Sorry to hear about the motherboard issues. Those really can be a massive PITA. If just the "right" thing goes wrong, its kind of an avalanche from there. I will say though, six years out of a high-end gaming PC is pretty good in my book. Since higher-end PCs seem to have this oddly inverse relationship in regards to how long they last |

And remember, it's not that the machine lasted 6 years, it's that I lasted 6 years with it! Apart from a failing HD, everything else (power supply, memory, etc) is still trucking along just fine. I've found some SSDs that are compatible with the motherboard, so I'm just waiting for a sale price or a coupon to come along and this machine should keep going for a while longer. I researched extensively before buying my first DS machine years ago, and I ultimately chose them for the use of name-brand components and the warranty. I also liked how the occasional poor ratings at places like - Outside Link Removed - were acknowledged and addressed. |

It arrived today. Got it unboxed and running...not that you would know. It's so quiet compared to my old Twister Pro. So far, I've been installing all my old stuff...Office, Steam, etc. I'll post up some gaming experiences in the next few days. I'll load up Crysis since I was able to run Crysis at almost max settings with the old Twister Pro.
I'm glad that an exterior switch was added for the lighting (my old one had the switch on the inside) Order it last Monday, it arrived the following Tuesday. |
