Well, the beast arrived yesterday. Straight from the git go she ran beautifully. The rig is much bigger than I thought. I did remove a cabinet so the machine could fit under the counter top. As you can see we are a gaming family and the fifth machine needs to be replaced soon. Anyway, back to my review. I thought DS did an outstanding job with packing and the shipping people did a wonderful job of not banging it around. All materials were packed neatly and protected very well. The customer support truly is the best I have ever seen or even heard of. The status page is awesome and I would encourage DS to continue to update that page in a timely manner. Over all score is an A+ (Would have been an A++ if I could have gotten a second machine for half price ) I am very pleased with my new machines which has been running all night.
I have added another 3 gig ram so she sits at 6gig. This machine was well put together and inspected as I couldn't see any loose anything inside of it. The following pix show my set up here at the house and the one with the temps and OC was taken after nearly 3 hours of playing warcraft, you can see one of my chars on screen. The OC is only 3.3ghz but thats better than 2.6 and it is stable.
The wiring under the table is a mess mainly because I removed my cabinet for the new machine. I will figure something out.
Hope that links works for you guys.
Once again thanks go out to DST4ME, Harleyman and others for the suggestion and help. Also thank you DS for taking the time to make sure this rig is solid and stable your team did an excellent job.
Oh yeah, I am posting this here because it said I wasn't authorized to create post in the review section. So sorry that this is in the wrong place. I will still be hanging out here to see what new cool rigs and ideas others have come up with and to help where I can.

Very nice ... Glad to see the delivery went smoothly for you. What server are you playing WOW on? My chars are on Draka. Also I started playing Eve Online with some WOW friends. I was getting a little burned out on WOW, found EVE a very enjoyable alternative. If you are interested in playing Eve I'll post info for you. So many games So little time.
As I post this I see my rig is on the Fed-X truck and out for delivery.

Thanks for replies. I play on Fizzcrank. Not really a fan of Eve. Thanks for the offer though. I also run a laptop next to me sometimes when my wife wants to surf. We game all the time and 3 of the other machines are very nice at the moment. My youngest is stuck with the Gateway for now but that will be replace shortly and yep you guessed it. It's coming from DS.

I am thinking DS OC'd it to where they felt it was most stable. I am more than pleased with it at 3.3ghz. It is also nice to know it could possibly go higher. But, I am good with it the way it is.

That looks awesome! We do indeed OC the system as far as we can with complete stability and that obviously varies from system to system.
Again it looks good though! Every time I see photos of someones new system in a HAF case, it just makes me want to build my own that much more. |

wow very nice, those are some great temps boss 3.33Ghz is way better then 2.66. if you ever want to see the difference, save your OC settings then set bios to default and watch how much slower things are
congrats and it was a pleasure working with you on configuring your PC |

Hey Sodius -
"Grats" on the system looks sweet!! You mentioned you added 3 more gigs of RAM? Did you add it after you received it or did you change and have DS do it.? Curious as we had some discussion earlier this week on ram and 64bit.
Had a "family emergency" that took me out of town the day that mess started, just got back in town this morning. Are you running 3, 2G cards now, or did you add 3, 1 gig cards in the extra dimm slots?
Hope you enjoy it, I play WOW on "Gorefiend" and "Sentinels" for the most part.
Anyway, updated my config discussion post. Fell free to stop in and reply there or here.
Best of luck with that "Monster".

when done right like DS does it, there is no real side effect, the life of your CPU will be shorter but it will die way after you are done using it, also remember that the warranty covers the OC.

Hi Sodius -
Thanks for the reply, glad to hear you love the new system.
I am about to order mine, just one question for you being a "WOW" player.
Did you have any problems installing "WOW" on Vista 64 bit OS? I have read there is some issues with that. If you could advise me what the best way to install it is, I would be grateful. =)
Thanks ~Wolfie

WoW has no issues with a 64bit OS as that is what I had been running it on before the new machine. Never had an issue with it.
Actually the only problem I had with the new machine and WoW was with freezes. WoW hates the new technology. This is what I did to fix it.
With an SLI i7 quad which WoW seems to hate I had to right click my World of Warcraft desktop ICON and went to properties. Then I clicked the Compatibility tab.
I clicked
Disable desktop composition
and I also clicked the
Disable display scaling on high DPI setting
That stopped the freeze ups of the computer.
Now all has been running smooth as ice. I have had no freezes in WoW since. That was also the only program I have had a problem with. Problem solved. Edited by Sodius - 09 Feb 2009 at 5:40pm |

Thanks Sodius -
Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread. Actually though, I was refering to the actucal game install and patcher issues. Did you install the game to a seperate folder in the root directory of C:? Or did you just install it where it wanted to go ? /program folder and click the WOW icon and check run in admistrator mode? Sorry to be a pain, but I am not real comfortable with computers and I will "FREAK" out if my brand new high dollar wonder can't get "WOW" running. LOL

I let the program install it where it wanted to. All patches worked just fine.

Regarding the overclock, what hurts the CPU is the extra heat mainly. With an upgraded cooler and careful overclocking, which pays attention to the temperatures, the CPU that's overclocked should last just as long as one that isn't. DS is obviously very careful to watch stability and heat when overclocking their machines. From what I've seen in posts here, the CPU temperatures never even approach the max ratings from Intel, so the OC should be perfectly harmless to the CPU.
I'm very picky about low-maintennance, durability, and stability, and I trusted these guys enough to order my own expensive new system from them. I'm totally convinced that you're perfectly safe doing the same. Not only that, their warranty rocks. These guys will absolutely take care of you. |

I have complete faith in the DS overclock! For $45 I get an overclock that will make my 920 as good as a stock 940 or 965 saving hundred of dollars!

exactly, besides, even with the OC, your CPU will die long after you threw your PC away |
