Ordered on 12/26/22 and received on 3/1/23. The system was shipped FedEx freight and was shrink wrapped to a pallet. There was a second box that included the coolant, filling container, and (at my request) gpu air cooler. The packaging was fantastic and there was no damage to anything including the boxes. As you can see in the pictures, the detailed foam packing of the case internals was immaculate. Best I've ever seen and nicer than the standard expanding foam that I had expected. Instructions were very clear on needing to fill the loop before powering on. I chose to connect the pump power to a seperate Molex power supply I have for filling loops so I didn't need to turn the system on and off during initial filling (the pump should never run dry). After getting the loop filled and bled I booted it up for the first time and everything worked as expected. I had a little issue with the RGB remote at first but it turns out it needed pairing to the hub and that is now working as expected. I've wanted one of these for a long time because I needed an inverted case system to match my desk layout and there aren't nearly enough choices for that. I really like DS' custom cases and I hope they continue to make their own cases to set themselves apart. I think it's a competitive advantage. It gets tiring seeing the same O11 and every other common case in the DIY market. Another nice touch of the Velox is that the two HDD trays in the front are connected to a SATA backplane with the sata power and data cables already connected. If using those slots, simply attach the drive to the tray and slide it in; no need to mess with any cabling. For those wondering, the Velox X logo on the power supply shroud is not LED backlit as standard. There are some images floating around with past Velox' where it is lit but that was up to the assembly tech or a custom request. I do like the look of that so I am adding a small magnetic strip behind the psu shroud and hooking it up to the rgb hub. DS support even recommended me a compatible rgb strip. DS does use a D5 based pump and not DDC for this loop which I appreciate as the D5 is stronger and quieter. Custom requests that DS fulfilled for me: *Including the GPU air cooler in the shipment *Wiring the GPU with a dedicated 16 pin cable so I didn't have to look at the 3-8pin to 16 pin adapter inside the case. *Using both EPS 8 pin CPU power connectors despite only 1 being required (I didn't know if this was a standard practice) Minor nitpicks *The DIGITALSTORM logo on the GPU waterblock being upside down for the orientation of the system. I asked support on that and they let me know how I could manually flip that around and I have. *There were a couple missing screws for the front panel. I have reached out to support and they are shipping those out to me today. Overall, I am very happy with how the system turned out. I want to thank Alex and Alexis from DS for their time and support working with me during the configuration and keeping me up to date on the progression of the build. Also thanks to Philip from DS Tech Support. I'll be back for another a few years down the road. Edited by n0x1ous - 06 Mar 2023 at 9:46am |

I knew it was an exotic. Beautiful. ![]() I use a 24-pin ATX psu on/off jumper for working with the coolant without turning on the pc. Very handy. Edited by hoserator - 06 Mar 2023 at 9:29am |

Nice looking system! Great job DS did on packing that thing. I hope they are using the same method on all shipments now instead of the expanding foam. That's what my Velox was shipped with and it didn't help. PC MB destroyed in shipment but was not with FedEx. No pallet either. RMA was with FedEx and all turned out great.
That thing should run as cool as an ice box, I am GREEN with envy! ;-) |
