I think I am going to be buying from Digital Storm. The two prices listed below are the exact same specs, just that one was from the limited customization, while the other was from the fully. (I don't understand the $632 savings off that is advertised on the limited customization page, when it is really about $350, not complaining though, still nice savings!).
$1891.10 from Newegg List From Newegg : [The only part that is not the same is the DVD/CD burner] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813188049 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16819115202 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820145222 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817139006 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16822136284 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16827151175 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814150456 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16835103055 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16832116754 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160 I know that DS is a reputable company which is why I am interested in buying, and at the same time I thought the price difference between them and building myself would be absurdly high. Turns out that is not the case at all. The exact same parts from newegg come to $1891.10 with tax included. That is a price difference of $335.9 which is pretty freaking great. So for a price difference of $335.9, to my understanding I am paying for : 3 year warranty, overclocked CPU, instant support, quality build(rather than doing it myself and being rather sloppy!), and of course, ease of mind. And now here are my specs, I would love to have any reviews on what I can improve/change. Is 750w enough? Should I get a cheap GPU in anticipation of the new fermis and upgrade myself in the future? Should I try liquid cooling instead? Etc. Get 1000w Corsair PSU unless you know you won't ever be using 2 cards
The OC version of the 5870 is pointless and completely overpriced...you can OC yourself and save a lot of money Can also change your RAM to the digital storm one. You won't see a difference The Video OC is pointless you won't notice a difference as the OC is extremely light Careful tweaking the OS it can lead to problems down the road |

I agree with cheeba, but to add another thing get Windows Professional instead of Home. Ability to run in XP mode.

Welcome to the forums. Members with better hardware knowledge will be along to help you with your configuration, like justin.kerr or DST4ME, and they will want to know your budget and resolution.

Ah Thanks for replies so far. Budget is anything reasonable really, I'd say $2500 max. I will be gaming on a Asus 24 inch 1920x1080 screen.

if you think you will go sli/cf in the future go with a 1000w corsair psu, otherwise:
Here you go Ticket# 390290 --- Price: $2237 (To see this build click here) Price after current promotion $2237 Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Not Available Trim Accents: - Not Available Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 LE Edition SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Supports SLI or CrossFire) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - Not Available Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Seagate/Hitachi/Western Digital (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) (SATA) (Extreme Speed) Set 1 Raid Options: - Not Available Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 22x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14 Extreme Performance (Does NOT fit on the regular EVGA X58 3X SLI) H20 Tube Color:- Not Available Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - Not Available Chassis Mods: - Not Available Noise Reduction: - Not Available Boost Processor: FREE: Stage 1: Overclock the processor between 3.3GHz to 3.9GHz (Requires Air Cooling Upgrade) Boost Video Card: - Not Available Boost Memory: - Not Available Boost OS: - Not Available Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit Edition) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Virus Protection: - Not Available Office: - Not Available Benchmarking: - Not Available Install/Test Game: FREE: Please include a free copy of a hot-selling game Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty not much different then yours, I just removed the pointless stuff and instead put the money toward the d14 which is a great cooler, tho u12 or v8 will do also but either the d14 or u12 will both do a little better job then the v8 and have a little less noise. edit, while I was writing this cheebamaster must have posted his build, which is my build with a u12 and that is a great one also, but he forgot to choose the free stage 1 oc. ![]() Edited by DST4ME - 06 Mar 2010 at 12:37am |
