Hey everyone,

So I've had my DS Apollo for about six years now, and it was starting to show its age a bit, so I figured it was time for an upgrade. As I was extremely happy with DS before, after doing some research into supply chain issues and wait times, I placed another order for a new Lumos with them. I wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else, but the tl;dr is that ZOMG I'M BEYOND HAPPY.

Here are some of my specs:

Chassis Model: Digital Storm Lumos
Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish
Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (6-Core) 4.6 GHz Turbo
Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON (Wi-Fi) (X570 Chipset) (Up to 2x PCI-E Devices) (No SLI Support)
System Memory: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz Digital Storm Performance Series
Power Supply: 850W Digital Storm Performance Series (Modular) (80 Plus Gold)
Optical Drive: - No Thanks
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (500GB Seagate FireCuda 520) (NVM Express) (Gen4 PCIe)
Storage Set 2: 1x SSD (1TB Samsung 860 EVO)
Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections)
Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 3080 10GB (Performance Edition) (VR Ready)
Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio
Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex Liquid CPU Cooler (Dual Fan) (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance)
Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow)
Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans
Internal Lighting: Remote Controlled Advanced LED Lighting System (Multiple RGB Color Modes)
CPU Boost: Stock Factory Turbo Boost Advanced Automatic Overclocking

Before placing my order, I posted my suggested build on the forums, and Cretae was kind enough to offer some suggestions and helped me tweak my build. I placed the order on 3/12/2021, and waited for about a month in Stage 1. After 20 business days, I reached out to Alex at DS just to see if he could provide an update. He reached back out to me on a Sunday and told me I could expect my machine would ship in two weeks. Sure enough, on 4/22/2021, the computer started its long journey from CA to NJ, and yesterday afternoon it finally arrived.

I took pictures of the box before opening, and although there was one small scrape at the top, it didn't pierce the box - phew! I opened the box, and started to remove the tower, when I heard a sound that sent shivers down my spine - something was rattling inside the tower. After placing the tower down and opening the case, I discovered the culprit was a very small screw that had come loose/fallen out. After a bit of searching, and a super helpful customer support phone call, I was able to determine that the screw was one of many used to keep the motherboard in place. I then found the hole for the missing screw and successfully put the screw back in. I then set everything else up, said a quick prayer, and turned the Lumos on.

Since I hit that power switch, this machine has been everything I could have hoped for and more. Boot time is about 12 seconds. The computer is crazy silent. It looks really cool. There was no bloatware (unless you count MSI Dragon Center, which has been working great for me thus far.) Temps have been well within acceptable range. I installed WoW and COD: Cold War (the two games I've been currently playing on my old machine), and they run insanely well at 4k - I'm talking about what seem to be the highest possible settings and the Lumos doesn't even care. I'm going to test out some other games later on, but so far it's been amazing.

In conclusion, the entire experience has been fantastic. Alex was great as usual, and Customer Support took my call promptly and expertly to help address the one small screw issue that came up - they were even looking at pictures of my machine as I was describing what I was seeing to help me address the issue. Special thanks again to Cretae for the build advice which has definitely paid off. If I'm nitpicking, I would say that some cons were that taking the plastic wrap off of the glass panels was annoying when it came to the screws, and I did not receive documentation for the case lighting RGB remote.

Spending this kind of money on a computer, and having it come from the West Coast to the East Coast, all I was hoping for was for it to turn on and run great, and it's done that and then some. Could not be happier with my purchase, and it was absolutely worth the wait! I'll try to post pics of my setup once the sun goes down - the lighting in my office is terrible (looking into blackout curtains), so pics are hard in the daytime.

Thank you! Yeah, I would not have guessed that a mobo screw came loose, but I'm 99.9% certain that's what it was. The screw itself was very small (maybe 1/3 of a thumbnail length) and the head matches exactly what is used to keep the mobo in place, and I can't find those screws used elsewhere. The empty hole was in the bottom left corner of the mobo, and there were matching holes in the other three corners, so that also made sense. The screw did go back in nicely, and the machine works great - if it turns out its somehow from something else, at least I know where it is!

Cretae, that is exactly what I was looking for - thank you! Not sure why those instructions weren't included, but thankfully I've got my RGB setup how I want it (for now anyway) - going with a purple/green Joker theme at the moment. I think it looks amazing, but my wife is worried our neighbors will think I'm hosting a rave
