http://www.digitalstormonline. Budget: $1500 (Without Peripherals - Already have Monitor, mouse, keyboard) is the President's Day 15% Sale still active? Main uses for this computer will be HD Video Editing, some 3D work, and later this year, lots of gaming (Battlefield 3, Crysis 2) I didn't add a graphics card to the build only because I plan on buying a nice one this summer, when I get more money. I just need to be able to edit HD video in CS5 and Sony Vegas with ease and speed for the time being. Anyways, how is this looking? I'm not sure what to do with cooling, and if a i7 2600k would be better for editing video and such? Edited by Zesty - 22 Feb 2011 at 12:39pm |

Not sure what res you gonna want to play crysis, but with one gpu, either the res can't be too high or the games settings need to be not at the highest, with low or no aa.
SB is the way to go. gpu oc is very mild here you will never notice it. OS tweak makes no difference what so ever in games and app speeds, and if you ever need one of those services, then you might have a problem. Here you go Ticket# 488817 --- $1412 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: - No Thanks, I will be installing my own video card(s) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Overclock the processor between 3.6GHz to 3.9GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty keep in mind this build can't do sli. |

mobo is not the only issue and the deluxe can do it for better then sabertooth, it will give you more pci lanes and it supports higher speeds memory, dual lan, blutooth, etc etc, go deluxe here if you go that route.
but like I said, the mobo is not the only thing holding sli back. |

I'm looking to be able to play these games at full res on my 23 in. LG monitor at 1920x1080, with High to Max settings...
But I'm not gonna worry about the GPU for a couple months until I get more cash, then I'll go all out and maybe get two cards. And what's the difference between the P8P67-M and just the P8P67? And they have a P8P67-M Pro for $11 more. Edited by Zesty - 22 Feb 2011 at 7:24pm |

IF you want to go two cards, then we need to change mobo and psu.
you don't want the M modelds, they have few pci lanes, in sli you will be left with no pci lanes, the M itself can't do sli, and the M-pro, can do sli, the p8p67 can't do sli. |

Alright thank you. I'd go Deluxe with the mobo if I wanted to do SLI I guess, but I just gotta keep under this budget, and I'd need a 1000W PSU too.
Is the 15% President's Day sale still going on, or was that a 1 day thing? Edited by Zesty - 23 Feb 2011 at 12:50pm |

The sale was 1 day. Can you tell what monitor size and resolution? Also if u plan to use your video card until you buy another what is the current card? Lastly can you give a little more of a profile of what your video editing involves? I think we can work something out for you.

there is no way to keep under budget and get a deluxe and 1000w corsair, we need to change somethings: Here you go Ticket# 489082 --- $1502 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe (Intel P67 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (500GB Western Digital/Seagate/Hitachi/Samsung (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: - No Thanks, I will be installing my own video card(s) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Overclock the processor between 3.6GHz to 3.9GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty |

When we get our tax return this week I'll see what my exact budget is. I might be getting more than I expected, or less. Once I see how much I can work with I'll see if I want to do SLI, which I hopefully can do, it'll be worth it.

If you are going to do HD video editing, don't you want to read and write BluRay discs?
If you want Digital Storm to install that capability, you have the following choices: a. Keep the standard DVD reader/writer, and add a BR-only player - you can read but not write BR discs (+$75) b. Keep the standard DVD reader/writer, and add a BR Reader/Writer (One drive for DVD/CDs, the other for BR only) (+126) c. SUBSTITUTE the standard DVD reader/writer with the Lite-on iHBS112 (+$115) Lite-on Web Site for BR/DVD Reader/Writer Option C is what I did with my rig so I could author and edit BR discs from my HD Video camera. Guys its important to oc, have look at oced 2600k vs stock 2500K
this is how fast my build with oc 2600K would do video encoding, vs the stock 2500k for example, and my build can do sli: and cysis: Edited by DST4ME - 24 Feb 2011 at 5:18am |

Yeah even if an oc'd 2500 with some extra cooling was about the same performance minus the hyper threading as a stock 2700 the small price difference would then justify a 2700.

I prefer the i7 over the i5 because Adobe CS5 and Vegas will benefit from it when I'm editing.
And no I won't need a Blu-Ray player. I mainly publish my work digitally online. |

Hey I game, just not as much and frequent as I used to on the pc , not on the Terminator right now tho, as it has some folding to do before it can bench and etc.
@ richman, you are mistaking game performance with other things, because of HT, there some things that the 2600k will do better: both are oced here: here check out both stock speeds: [ Edited by DST4ME - 24 Feb 2011 at 2:23pm |

you mean the Biebernator?
pay no attention to those crappy Bittech benches, for the quoted speeds, none are even close to what people that know what they are doing get.

How easy is it to overclock the 2600k? Isn't it as simple as tweaking a few things in the BIOS? I wanna push it up around 4.0 - 4.3 GHz. Can I still keep it cool with these speeds?

One of the reason we recommend these coolers like Noctua, is that not only do they keep good temps and do it quietly, but also they leave plenty of room to oc higher, with the SB you should be able to hit 4.4 easy, tho I have not had the pleasure myself, all the people I know on forums and in my area that have one, report that they easily hit 4.4 and higher, our justin here has his at 5.4GHz I think, but then again, not everybody is justin
