Topic: RMA Update for all my DSO friends. Posted: 01 May 2008 at 9:41am |
GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! Ok, so all of you that check the boards routinely know that my monster rig had to go back to DSO for an overhaul. It’s been there since the ninth of April with what turned out to be a dead motherboard. In verifying that was the issue, I upgraded to the 780i over the 680i as I have read too much about frequent failures with the 6 series boards. (And the upgrade was far less than I was expecting. I just assumed I was going to have to dicker out a deal with time like I was buying a new car. But, when they told me the upgrade price I didn’t even flinch and screamed “YES” before they changed their mind and relized their error, Hehehehe). So, yesterday (Wednesday) I get the email that my rig is in its final stage and was to be shipped in a day or so. I get up this morning and I have the “your order has shipped email”!!!! I live in DSO shipped it over night to me!! Woo – Hooo! I don’t feel so bad having to have had to spring for the shipping now! Classy act there, peeps. Thank you! I will let you all know later today when it arrives and how she is running. |

That's impressive customer service right there, DogLover. I have to admit I'm a bit jealous (my new DS is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow!). Having kept up with the recent threads in the StormDrain, it's encouraging to see yet another example of Digital Storm taking excellent care of their customers.
I can't wait until mine gets here! Edited by warlock - 01 May 2008 at 10:17am |

Yes, I am happy they did this for me. But, at the same time it has been there a very long time and I have crazy amounts of money into this rig. I think it was nice they concidered that and took care of me a bit and ate some of the shipping cost.
As an edit... I am standing here on the second floor of my house staring out the window watching for UPS. You think I am losing what little mind I have left? Edited by Dog Lover - 01 May 2008 at 12:19pm |

3 day air means three business days. So if it shipped on the 30th, then the May 1st (thurs) is day one, May 2 (fri) is day 2 and May 5th (Mon) is day 3.
Weekends are not counted as business days.
Ed - I'm happy for you man. Let us know how things go. My new computer should be shipping tomorrow, since it's coming via freight it's gonna take a while. Out of respect for DS I won't mention the name of the company where I purchased my rig. Nonetheless, it's my intent once I receive my new rig to write a post detailing my experiences with DS and to provide some insight as to ordering a rig from DS versus a well known competitor. Just so everyone knows this doesn't mean I'm gonna flame DS, because they do a number of things very well. After all, the girlfriend's computer is still running beautifully. Yup.... trylorc is 100 % correct! I know this too as when I originally got my rig in December I opted for the 3 day air at my expense as I had to have it before I went out of town for a couple weeks.

I still got a week before i can even order mine! ARG!
and yea UPS overnight usually means they kick your box a couple dozen times before they send it out. Going by ground they kick it the same amount of times, but its spread out over a longer time period.

Ok, she is hooked up and all is well. UPS trashed the box and it obviously got wet somewhere. YIKES. But, the rig is purring like a kitten! On of the problems it had before the RMA was I noticed the temps were high, ie, in the high 40's and low 50's at idle.
She is back to nice and cool now. Currant core readings are 34-30-33-37.
Now thats what I'm talking about! lol.
only problem I see is that they neglected to OC it..... Mmmmmm. No big deal, I will call them later and have them walk me through it. I have never overclocked any rig and I am not trying now!

Dog Lover,
Its great to hear that your rig is running so great! I'm glad to hear that UPS didn't screw up this time. *Fingers still crossed* If you do notice anything, even minor details, that cause concern, please contact myself or any member of my staff. I will do all that I can to ensure that the experience continues to be positive. I have already asked Josh to contact you regarding your OC. Jessica |

If Jessica is going to start chiming in, I think she needs to introduce herself. Jessica, please stand up and tell the class a little about yourself.
Pleas talk about only the things that we'd all like to hear about. Edited by EdH63 - 01 May 2008 at 8:06pm |

Thanks for responding, Jessica! Its working great and with the CPU I have I am surely cranking on my games with no problems, but I want that OC... Or do I? I mean its running so good with such cool temps, I am almost afraid to monkey with it!
Anyway, don't listen to Ed. He is nuts! LOL... And that is why we love him so much!
I am in no hurry, when ever you folks have time to call me and walk me though the OC, its good with me. I am just glad to have my rig back and it is running so great I want to dance. And believe me, no one wants to see a 44 year old man that 6' 03 and 223 lbs dance to AC/DC!

Dog Lover,
Alex just PM'd me late last night and said my second RMA was done and they will be shipping mine out today! Bad memory this time around (first time was bad power supply & motherboard). I can't wait...a second time!
Now, if I can actually get more than one week on it without it going nuts on me, I will be a very happy customer!
Here hoping that UPS can deliver it it one piece!

My delivery got delayed due to a snowstorm.
It made it out of Salt Lake City, but all UPS site shows now is an EXCEPTION due to adverse weather conditions. No delivery date listed any more. Sigh. The longer UPS has my computer in their hands, the less faith I have that it will arrive in one piece. |

Ahhhhh, Tyler, That is a classic!
When they were last in concert, like 6 or 7 years ago now anyway, I was like a teen again. Dancing in the asile and singing like a fool.
I swear, if they go on tour again, I may quit my job and go on the road and follow them from town to town.
Sigh, what a loser, uh?

Haha,
Introduce myself, eh? What'd you want to know? Fairly new to DS. Proud to be working here, serving all of you....cracking a joke here or there. "I like long walks on the beach, sunset and sunrises, cute little doggies...." Okay or not. Ultimately, I'm Jessica. Anything else you'd like to know, simply ask.

Why DSO? Well I was offered a job so I took it.
No, just kidding. My qualifications and why I came to DSO kind of fall
in line together. I was formerly a manager for 24 Hour Fitness. Good
job, poor pay, poor treatment for employees. I simply loved my staff.
Things change and I left for DSO. I really wanted to begin working with
computers again.
I was raised working with computers. Heck, I was handing my dad sound cards when I was 3. Built a fully functioning computer and explained, in detail, how computers work for the 7th grade science fair with no assistance other than my own. Wrote a program using Visual Basic 6 for the 8th grade science fair. Taught myself HTML and CSS -- that got me to own my own web design company by the time I was 16. At the same time I was also brought in a summer school advisor (teacher) for 7 to 12 year olds to teach about computers and web design. I was a teachers assistant all 4 years in high school and aided, drastically, my senior year in Computer Network Repair and Analysis as well as mechanical engineering. Went to college for a few years, majored in everything and then dropped out to work 2 full time jobs. Been out of the computer scene for a few years now. And I realized how much I miss it. My specialty was always repair for computers and setups for networks. I'm getting back into it and realizing things have changed since I left. But I'm catching on. Currently, I only own a laptop...by a competitor that I will not mention names of out of respect for DSO. Specs are as follows: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250, 1.5GHz, 667Mhz 2M L2 Cache 2 G, 667MHz RAM 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 13.3 WXGA Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition Vista Ultimate A little outdated but runs fine for a laptop. Anyway, does that answer all your questions?

Wow, Jessica, impressive. Reminds me of my ex-neighbor, he is completely self taught on computers and now builds server systems and writes software for them. All that with only a highschool diploma and a lot of IT training and testing and certifications on his own. Anyway, thanks for your help with my rig and good luck with DSO. You guys are slammed busy, but it must be still a fun job. (until you have the likes of harleyman calling hourly to chew someone's butt for both his systems there for RMA!)

LOL! Teachers pet!
Ya, well, I figured the money I got into this rig, plus I paid for 3 day air when I got it, then full price on RMA ground shipping and then the upgrade for the Mobo. I think they decided it was time they helped out a struggling man!

AR 15, my friend. A lovely piece of equipment. I actually own one for general home protection. Actually, I own several guns.
Nut? Maybe so, but I do live in a major city in Florida. One never knows when one needs to break out that Glock 17 I keep in my bedroom night stand.
