So, after 9  years of my Digital Storm PC, currently going strong still, with the exception of upgrading the HDD and the video card. I am planning on building a new PC, and this time I am planning on going the AMD route. Planning to go with the Ryzen 7 2700x, but as I get closer on pulling the plug, I keep reading that it's really  picky with RAM.

So my question, I am planning to go 3200mhz 16GB. Should I forget about it and go with 3000mhz? Or what's the best brand / sticks to go with it? Thanks for the help.

We don't have very many AMD users here. I think you can pick the RAM you want and then the manufacturer's site will tell you about compatibility. I also heard the 2700x Ram issues are more under control now.

3200mhz is the way to go for AMD. It is the sweet spot, any more and you get diminishing returns. As for those issues, go for MSI over ASUS on your mobo, they have better ram compatibility unless you go high end ASUS. Your Mobo is gonna be the limiting factor there honestly. As for brands gskill and Corsair are the way to go. I personally use 32GB of Corsair vengeance RGB pro @3200mhz, I love it and have room for overclocking if needed. Dominator line from Corsair holds the current world record on OC. Just make sure to check your CAS latency, that is the set of 4 numbers following the speed and lower is better. Vengeance 3200mhz has CAS of 16 iirc but if you do drop down to 3000 I believe it goes to 15. The difference is negligible depending on your use case.
