I am just wondering,... This is actually a question to DS.. Have you seen a noticable increase in sales/interest in DS since this forum went up?

I honestly don't think they're allowed to answer this.

I don't understand why...simple question simple answer...shouldn't be any different than asking if the last advertisement was successful...or the last telephone campaign was productive...DS does neither so...this forum falls under advertising and market research and customer satisfaction...not to mention customer education...where is the business need for secrecy ..this question may show all of us why Doug is not in business for himself...I run a business for others ,we use the 'Dragnet" philosophy ...just the facts ma'am....and we have a great need for straight answers to direct questions...works well for us...is there a better way.......

Of course, it's a company's sole discretion too answer this kind of question in a public forum. It's not a matter of "why not". These kinds of questions are directed toward marketing departments and it's none of the publics business how and why ads work for a company.
Considering what kind of company DS is, retail, and this forum drives many great topics of conversation that actually are helpful to the consumer and new posters and buyers are being seen here, then I would safely assume that there would be a certain percentage of market and revenue generated sales that occur because of this venue. I think we can forget that this is not our business, and because we purchase doesn't entitle us to everything DS in these forums. I wouldn't produce information if it were my company that doesn't relate to the direct impact of the sale as far as the consumer is related. The impact a marketing strategy has on the business is confidential info... need to know. Just my attitude. |

I would answer you this way... "The forums have been a great source of customer motivated activity. Thank you for asking." |

I agree with EdH63, it should be self-evident that it's DS' prerogative to release info like that, but if it were my company I wouldn't feel compelled to...
Speaking for myself, the forums and staff's participation in them directly impacted my decision to order from DS! Chris |

For my part the forums have prevented me from canceling my order. Since I ordered on the 5th of September and have not yet seen my machine (it has been on stage 2 for over a week), if there were no forum I would have canceled my order out of fear that they were not a legitimate outfit. Since I can look on the forums and see that people actually do eventually get their machines, it has given me some peace of mind and as a result I have waited more patiently. If I had canceled they would have been down about $6700 so just that ought to pay for the forums for a bit anyway. |

This discussion is to me, an example of the type of customer base DigitalStorm has created...pleased to be associated...and boy do I know what to expect when my machine gets to Phoenix.....because I read it all here in the forums.....

My question was almost rhetorical in nature... I am pretty sure that there has been more interest because of this forum.... Now would it be any different from asking, "Do you think you get positive results from posting on Resellerratings.com?"... I dont see the difference.... Have you gotten interest from that PC gamer article?? Etc etc.... This is not trade information here... Ed your response about an answer indicating customer activity is an answer that is completely acceptable.. It answers teh question "YES"

You are correct, it is. And, it does it without upsetting shareholders that rely on corporate discretion. Mr. Speaker, I yield the rest of my time to the board... thank you. Edited by EdH63 - 30 Sep 2007 at 9:40pm |

The forms were actually create to make a bond between the customers and the company. A place for people to see what kind of company we truly are. A place where our valued customers and even potential customers can come to for a great discussion.

The forums are a good place for people to check out because DS makes it apparent that if you have an issue and you post it on here they will contact you to fix whatever your problem maybe.
And to help their future customers, they get opinions from DS works and past customers. |

As a soon to be customer these forums helped me to decide to go with DS
knowing there's a place to talk to other owners of these machines as well as the folk who build them is a big plus in my book. I got a lot of helpful feedback in my very first topic asking for help with my config. |
