no, eihter that is a default pic for a laptop or they have grabbed the image from here.

maybe they are using the same case and that is the pic the case company provides for their laptop cases.

I was hinting at something. This pc is actually from an odm ( Original design Manufacturer). Im sure someone might have heard of sager, falcon northwest, etc. All these companies take barebones laptops and design them for the masses. The pro to this is the price wars, becuase its the same barebones between a few companies, and the support, since all the pc's are nearly the same, with small differentiations between prices.

its not the same, but generally when a company custom builds a laptop from which they got a barebones laptop, they will mention which barebones its made from. IE These 2 laptops in question are built off of the same barebones from arima/flextronics. In another case, the sager np5796 is built from the clevo M570TU barebones. It will be very close to the same laptop, with differences in price and support, and anything else the seller provides. IE DS offers more hard drive options than xoticpc.com.

Another great example. The D9262 found on ds is made from the same clevo D901c barebones as the sager NP9262

Well first let me tell you I have PCs and laptops from lot of places, dell, hp, FNW, and others.

My experience with FNW and DS has been a world of difference, I will never buy from FNW again, not only because they are way over price now in days but they don't even know how to treat their customers.

DS is way above FNW, in customer service and they way they deal with people, even people that had problems with their systems love then and recommend them, because of the way they got taken care of.

as far as using bare-bone case.

of course they are using bare-bone cases, it makes no sense for me to have to pay lot more for my laptop so that the case is a DS case.

DS is not even a case company, they are a PC builder.

I mean if you look, you will the same goes for their PCs.

they don't have their own case, they offer us choices of bare-bone cases and then put the stuff we would put on it.

DS is nothing but a PC boutique, they build you the PC you want to build without you building it but it will have all the parts you would have put in it.

I can't even say that for FNW.

ya with laptops there isn't much to change really, your screen is there, keyboard is there, etc., etc., but what makes the difference is who is going to treat me right when stuff hits the fan.

I'm not surprised at all that the laptop cases are not theirs, I didn't expect them to have theirs.

the HAF case is the same here and at FNW also, but I would never get it there or recommend FNW to anybody anymore, its not the same FNW it used to be.

The difference is in the workmanship DS's techs, and DS's warranty and CS.

I understand totally where you are coming from, but I'm just a bit surprised that its important to you.

So you looking to buy?

Ever since I found companies like clevo and msi that make barebones, and specifically the boutique style companies that build computers off them, Im never shopping from the likes of dell, hp, etc. And from what I can tell when its boutique style you have companies fighting over you with support, and also that theres no premium for parts (cough-alienware-cough). also give resellerratings.com a visit and compare places like ds and xotic pc to dell, hp, etc.

Right now Im a senior in high school looking for a laptop for college (game design). Its hard to describe the kind of laptop i'm looking for, but its somewhere between a gateway p-7811fx and an alienware m17x, so its in the ballpark of somewhat budget minded gaming laptops. gateway too cheap and less components than I want, and alienware is way too expensive but too much parts. Something like that xoticpc extreme 840 is RIGHT in my ballpark.

yes you are right, I never said that dell is comparable to DS or anything, I tell people its apples and oranges myself.

allienware is just another dell.

With all due respect, I wouldn't give my money to xoticpc if you killed me.

they are northing but a front for sager, and we all know what a crap sager is. when you get a chance checkout their reseller rating, then you will see what you are really dealing with.

First off, they sell more than sagers. They have MIS barebones and they have arima's new barebones. Second http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Xotic_PC says they have a 9.69, good enough for me. Third, they have the cheapest price i can find for the arima 840DI barebones. Most other places are charging $2200+ just for the base system, whereas at xoticpc its $1700 for base and $2200 nicely ocnfigured.

there is no place charging 2200 for a sager crappy laptop. and btw if you check sager's rating http://www.resellerratings.com/store/sager

you will see that they are horrible, now xoticpc not only can't even manage their own site but they carry a companie's product that has an F from the bbb and horrible rating

they also offer warranty from sager,

I'm never going to trust a company that sells sager products and I highly recommend everybody to stay away from any company that sells sager's product and warranty, which is worthless.

sorry not with my money, never.

If I was selling sagers, which I never would, they would be very cheap, cause they are crap.

And the system I was depicting with the $2200 start point, whereas xoticpc has it at $1700 was the laptop based off of the arima 840DI, sorry for any misconceptions.

xoticpc sells sager, their warranty is from sager, I would never trust a company that carries sager's products and warranty.

they are basically a front for sager.

there for I can't really advise you to buy from xoticpc, I would advise people to buy from dell before I would xoticpc.

Also with all due respect, I think its bad edicate   to come to one seller and talk about another seller's product. specially a crappy place like xoticpc/sager.

Surely you don't thing they are the same exact laptop but one is 500 cheaper do you? I hope not cause that $500 is missing somewhere in that laptop.
