Well, my sample system is ticket # 283653.  I'll be looking to game in as high resolution as possible spending under 4k, likely picking up a 24" monitor to go with the system.  However, I would prefer getting a SSD now rather than waiting, because I'll end up not getting one down the line if I don't start with one now (assuming that's the best option for the OS).  Thanks for any advice!

DST4ME,

In the good old days, like 18 months ago, we had lots of stuff to debate about. There was a range of CPUs to choose from, and cases, and motherboards and even operating systems

Is it my imagination, or has the hardware situation changed to the point where there's only one logical choice for CPU (the i7 920),  case (the HAF), motherboard (the EVGA X58) and OS (64-bit Vista). Your video card choice is dictated by your screen resolution, and there are really only two choices there (275 or 285 with or without SLI). Your only real choice is whether or not you spring for an SSD.

Oh yeah, and water cooling really isn't necessary anymore.

All your other choices are just window dressing.

Am I imagining this or what?
3.6 GHz E6850,       4 GB RAM, GTS 250,   TJ9, Win 7 64-bit
4.4 GHz i7 3930K, 16 GB RAM, GTX 670, 550D, Win 7 64-bit

evga x58 or classified depends on the user's needs, 920 (oced), 64-bit is not by choice but by nessesaty, gpu basically 275(with or without sli) or 295, LC is always a great idea depends on the budget and the build, the haf is the best band for the buck and you can't really get any better as far as airflow, only if it had 8 expansion slots.
