question for motherboard gurus....
I am getting a P9x79 deluxe board. it has: (2) sata3 and (4) sata2 controlled by the chipset. It has (2) sata 3's controlled by a Marvel controller for ssd caching. and (2) powered esata 3's with a ASM 1061 controller.
from looking around it seems both the marvel and ASM controllers tend to be slow. However I think many of these were on actual PCI cards not direct on the mobo.
I plan to have 2 sata3 capable storage drives (1 ssd 1 hdd) plus a 2 ssd drive hot swap bay.
soooo. how should I ask these to be hooked up? put the 2 chipset sata 3's on the storage drives I'm thinking. But should I use the chipset sata2 for the hotswap bays or would the sata3 marvel controller still be better than sata2 off the chipset?
Hope that makes sense.

I'm no expert on SSD and sata ports but , I would fill the Intel sata 3's with SSD first and put the HDD on a Intel sata 2. The third potential SSD, on swap bay, I would hook to any other sata3. This all assumes they are sata 3.0 drives.
